    30 x 40 Barn build

Now that the 9x16 garage door is on and finally painted, the barn is for the most part done. We had some lights left over from our awning at work so I went ahead and put them up to see how they lit things up....hey they were free!! I put up 4 eight foot H.O. T12's and 4 six foot H.O. T12's and...

    30 x 40 Barn build

D KRAGER, the pitch on the lean is 3/12 which gives me a 7' high opening for the doors. I wish it was a bit more but it should be sufficient for most anything I put in there. By the way, the width of each opening is 8'. The spacing on the roof trusses is 24" on center and they are 2x8's. I...

    30 x 40 Barn build

I also need to get the floor painted before moving anything in. I painted my 3 car garage with epoxy paint (I can't remember the brand I used) about 4 years ago and could not be happier. In my opinion when it comes to floor paint, you get what you pay for. Also, the floor prep will make or...

    30 x 40 Barn build

I just got word yesterday that the metal guys are done. The 9x16 overhead door will be installed in the next couple of days then I can do the paint work on it this weekend. The stairs came out real nice leading up to the second floor. I've got to get that door up there painted as well. The...

    30 x 40 Barn build

hpw, I have a 1960 bug that once was a race car that we completely re-did to put back on the street. We still drag race it from time to time and it typically runs high 14's in the quarter mile. We also have a "Thing" and a Cal look style 1970 and finally my current project is a 1961 Porsche...

    30 x 40 Barn build

The cupola and the roof are finished for the most part. Vents needed to be painted to match the light brown metal and will be installed tomorrow to complete the cupola. While I was on vacation for the 4th weekend, Xcel energy set the meter and connected the "Juice", 200 Amps:thumbup: . To...

    30 x 40 Barn build

We're heading out of town for the 4th of July weekend so I'll post more photos when we get back. I have some cool shots of it looking down from up on the "mountain" in the background before the barn started. I might be able to find a couple shots from 2005 & 2006 when this whole thing started...

    30 x 40 Barn build

The roof is finally going on and the dormers are proving to be quite the challenge. We should be real close in a week, I can't wait to take some time off for the July 4th weekend.:drink: The inside shots are upstairs in the loft and also one of the "lean".

    30 x 40 Barn build

The main part of the barn is 30x40 and the lean is 12x40. The ceiling height on the bottom is 10 foot (my builder had it originally at 12' but it would have been just way to tall). The 2nd floor is 14x40 with an 8' ceiling. I'm 6'5" so I wanted a little headroom, I hit my head on enough stuff...

    30 x 40 Barn build

The slab was poured with a thickened edge. It's about 12" thick on the edges then tapers to about 4" in the center. So I guess you could say most of the slab is 4" thick. It should be strong enough to carry most anything, but I'd be a little concerned about getting my backhoe in there to do...

Finally, the metal siding is going on. The roof will be a dark brown. I'm starting to get the lighting and electrical layout done.

Yeah, I tried to add them to the post but had some trouble. Click on my user name (Trophycase) and view my public profile and the photos of my build are there. I'll try it again. Ah ha, it looks like it worked. Enjoy

    30 x 40 Barn build

I've been surfing this site for about a year now and finally have some photos of my build to share. My barn is a 2 story 30x40 with a 12x40 "lean to". We're getting close and waiting on the metal sheeting. I attached a few photos of the build in my photo album.
