The aggregate is actually already showing in some areas of the old surface. There is even some pitting that I wanted to repair before "painting" with a solid non-transparent surface.

Thanks for the reply. Would you suggest any alternatives to painting, or just leave it as is? I acid stained all my backyard concrete myself and it turned out outstanding. My concern with acid staining the front is the two different concretes.
