under 500 bucks automotive scope ideas..... Hantek brand?

Have you read the scope buying guide sticky? I'm lucky where in the Nissan CAN class they taught us how to diag CAN faults using only resistance and voltages on the can lines, and a few other factory scantool tests. I thought you had to use a scope but the high line should have 2.75v and low...

under 500 bucks automotive scope ideas..... Hantek brand?

I guess it depends on your needs. The scope would work for me, but nothing else would be helpful, besides obd1, but that's cheap anyway. So I'd rather have the standalone. That's why I'd want to know about the support. Nissan Technician

That's not a bad idea. I might see if there are any plans to stop supporting that one though. Nissan Technician

    What did you do today?

I just fixed an exhaust leak on my wife's cousin's Accord, and her driver's side door didn't open from the inside or outside, so that's all set now. Heading home to do the heater core on my uncle's Mitsubishi mirage. Fun day off.. Nissan Technician

    MAC Precision Torque Sockets

These are nice feeling/looking sockets. In my experience, all of the special grips on sockets and wrenches are no match when it comes to rust, which is usually when you come across rounded heads. Nissan Technician

    need a new mityvac,alternatives?

What are you using it for? I have an EWK fluid extractor that I use for that task and brake flush/bleeds. Has some optional accessories, pump or shop air operated. Love it. Nissan Technician

    Made a new test light

You can always just start with the voltage drop test. Test lead extension to battery neg, activate circuit, backprobe source side and ground side at component. Near battery voltage on source side, near 0v on ground side. Bam. Nissan Technician

    Suggestion on impact driver/wrench

M18 high torque for life nuts. I have the m12 1/2" stubby and it usually works for lug nuts but not always. Also hit or miss with brake caliper brackets. The big daddy will take off any lug nuts that aren't cross threaded. It will break the studs off of the cross threaded ones. Having both is...

    Lift for auto + moto

I don't recommend the scissor lifts. I have one and yes it's better than a Jack and stands, but I wish I went with a Max now. They are a pain in the *** to get larger vehicles on because the arms only swing out so far. Tonight I was planning on fixing an exhaust leak on my cousin's car, but had...

under 500 bucks automotive scope ideas..... Hantek brand?

I had the hantek and it worked fine. I just didn't like having the laptop and the software is pretty bad. I just have a uscope now since the dealer scantool has a 2 channel scope set up. The factory one isn't great, but good enough. Nissan Technician

Help me choose some combo wrenches.

Mac has a deal right now on a full set from 6-32mm. I believe it goes straight from 6-24 before the skips start. $400. They are the precision torque wrenches that are not too short. I have the ratcheting 6 point flex set and they are really short. I had to talk myself out of the big set just...

    Wheel Balancing Really Necessary?

I can't believe some of the responses here. I mounted four tires on new rims yesterday and they all needed about 1-1.5oz, and hell yeah you would feel that if it wasn't on there. That is the case all the time with new tires. I can't remember the last time I mounted a tire and it didn't need any...
