    28 x 28 build: Garage/Hobby Workshop

Just decided on doing 6" recessed cans with LEDs on the first floor instead of the t8 fixtures. I'll redraw the layout and repost. This is mostly aesthetic reasons, I like how they look better, they put off plenty of light if placed properly. I don't think the cost difference is that much...

    Recessed lights vs. LED Tubes

Cans with nice LEDs are way cheaper than those. If the ones in link are $50 each and they are half price of cans with LEDs, that would make cans with LEDs $100, mine were $25, I just did the whole house.

Tankless for sure. Possibly mounted where the laundry is on the second floor. Any idea what type of mini split would be needed to cover the full building, would I need multiple units.

Thanks, I'm thinking about floor lights for the slab that I just saw in another thread as well. Regarding the Garage ceiling lights. What do you all think about the LED T8 fixture type lights (I'd want to flush mount them), vs. 6" recessed LED cans? My only concern regarding the recessed cans...

Thanks, and not overstaying at all, I'm looking for all the help I can get. Post as much as you want, I can always just ignore it haha. I will definitely take a look at the current infrastructure. I'm sure the sewer is still the old clay pipe. And the water and utilities are all being looked...

    Recessed lights vs. LED Tubes

I'm on the fence too. I remodeled my house with 6" LED recessed (in IC boxes). Working on the garage plans now, but kind of want the same recessed lights instead of the typical 4' fixtures. Haven't done the cost variance yet, but regular recessed lights would give a different look to the...

Thanks, yeah I've got a couple of stray's it looks like, I'll clean it up, some may be slightly on the wrong side of the wall too. Also, I know all kitchen receptacles need to be 20A. I may swap a bunch of the others to 15A but leave 20A where likely good to have a bit more power available...

Thanks, didn't know that about the fire alarm, I'll add another. And yes, I forgot to add the ventilation, I'll do that tonight. Great catch. Thanks, yes, I was being lazy just making them all 50 amp on the sheet, but yes, I should change it to 30 amp, that's how I wired the house and it was...

It's on residential, single family. It will be a crazy ride I'm sure. It's the first time I've ever tried this (did pull my own permits for the house remodel though). I think as the home owner, and putting a lot of effort up front (while spending as little as possible) will give me a better...

starting plans for a 28x28 2 story w/Apartment in NJ

The stairs will be covered so I won't wave to shovel the snow. The outlets in the room are just to help me with the 6' rule. Plus you never know when you need to move something. The area over by the kitchen has so many because the countertop and appliances will be there. Thanks on the...
