    Under deck storage

The house I just purchased has just such an area, the previous owner just bolted some corrugated translucent fiberglass sheets to the underside of the deck, just slightly angled towards the side of the deck so the water runs to the side and drains there. It works great, but its a little nasty...

Compression - Show Off Your Compressor

This is my first post in this thread (I've been hovering over in the flooring forum). For the past 7 or 8 years I've had nothing but my little Craftsman pancake compressor, not good enough for any real air tools. Having just bought my first house a few months ago, I'm in the process of...

    handheld grind possible?

Harbor Freight has cheap angle grinders and diamond cup wheels. I was in a pinch and needed a 4.5" diamond cup wheel to do my edges and under my work bench, Sears and Home Depot only sell the diamond cup wheels online, not in the stores. But my local Harbor Freight had them in the store for...

My Epoxy-Coat plain taupe floor - done!

Yeah we debated hooking the shop vac up, but it was more hassle than it was worth. The dust was ridiculous, there is still a good layer of it on everything on the work bench! There are a few TINY air bubbles that popped up, but I halfway expected that to happen, and didn't bother with a leaf...

My Epoxy-Coat plain taupe floor - done!

Just bought the house 2 weeks ago, had to do the garage floor before I moved anything into it. I debated the color and flakes for a long time, but settled on simple and cheap and did plain taupe with no flakes and no clear coat. I acid-etched it twice before realizing there was sealer on it...

    White floor?

I haven't done my floor yet (epoxy should go down this weekend) but for a long time I pondered pure white for the exact reasons you list. I still think it would look awesome, and the lighting would be superb. I ended up going with a taupe, which is pretty light still, and has a "warmth" to...

How much foaming from acid etch?

Well, I decided to go ahead and rent a big grinder and grind the floor. Boy am I glad I did. Turns out there WAS indeed sealer on it. Couldn't really tell before grinding, but as soon as I started, the sealer was coming off in hard little clumps, with a foul plasticy-chemical smell. once...

How much foaming from acid etch?

Ok I did another round of etching last night, the concrete etcher they had at home depot was phosphoric acid, not muriatic. Should do the same trick. I didn't dilute it as much as I did before, and I got a lot more foaming this time. I wouldn't say it was crazy, but it was visibly different...

Oh yeah definitely wearing a respirator, no worries there :) Guess I'm back to the scrubbing tonight :( My arms are sore.

How much foaming from acid etch?

Would there be any harm in sanding the floor, and then re-etching? Just for peace of mind? I might get more acid, and make it a little more concentrated and try again tonight, putting it on with the floor not quite as wet. I'd just hate to go through all this work and have the floor peel up!
