thanks that would work perfectly if I can find a good used electric version from craigslist. Unfortunately they mostly come in the pneumatic version and the electric ones aren't very cheap either.
I'm thinking an corded electric drill would work. A variable speed one should do the trick If I...
Ok so this might be a weird project I want to get started on and I can't seem to find a good way to do it from googling so I turn to this forum.
I am making co2 water (sparkling water) through a process called force carbonation. It basically is just shaking cold water in soda bottle that is...
There's one easy way to screw with the bells garden guy. If a seller is selling or giving away a hot item, someone here could easily send them a text or email and warn them first not to sell to the guy with phone number ending in 8329. That is assuming he uses that number to call sellers.
That is an amazing saw. I wonder if she would let me take the saw only. That base underneath is just as nice too but no chance of fitting my sedan. O well, I think the bellsgarden guy probably already got it.
Re: Lista benchtop / chest tool cabinets ?
how much did you get them if I may ask ? And do they have the heavy duty roller bearings slides ? I wonder how much the drawers holds compared to the standard lista drawers.
Do Lista make these smaller cabinet any more or is there anything similar ? I would love one to put on a bench for hand tools. I can't seem to find much information on it. The dimensions for the one in the photo measures 28.25" wide x 22.5" deep x 20" high which is ideal for me.
There are quite a few machine I don't have immediate use for right now but since I can probably get them for dirt cheap, I thought I'd might start looking for deals right now. I see a lot of vintage Craftsman pop up a lot for cheap so I'd like to get the best of what they have. Any model and era...
Sorry my original post must have been confusing. I was asking how I should prep bare metal for painting that have already been stripped of rust and paint.
From what I understand, you need to prep the bare metal surface so the paint can adhere to it properly and won't peel off later on.
Should I use phosphoric acid on bare metal before painting or is sanding with a very fine sandpaper (400 grit +) a better idea ? I can't seem to find much any information on this. What do you guys do to bare metal before priming ?
I will be using Rustoleum primer and paint enamel.
phosphoric...
had to bump this old post. Did a ton of research but this has been the most useful thus far especially for beginners. Someone should really write up a very detailed guide to restoring old toolboxes.
would using an angle grinder with a wire wheel, wire brush or flap disc to remove rust / paint on the toolbox scratch the metal to the point where it would affect the adhesion of etching primer ?
Can a 220 grit sandpaper remove paint and rust down to the bare metal safely or maybe there is a...
I will be removing rust and most of the paint on my toolbox down to bare metal with a wire brush wheel on an angle grinder, prep, and repaint it. I will do this to the exterior only and that includes the face of the drawers. This is my first paint job so bare with me.
I want to keep it below...
I got this type of mac tool box I am trying to fix up. This is a photo of a similar one.

It has the (chrome?) handles that has some rusting. Do I just use a dremel with a steel brush head ? I also need to clean the metal drawer...
