    Roof OSB sheathing question.

    Since nobody else mentioned it I'll point out that plywood is preferred over OSB in applications that must be waterproofed such as roofs and decks. I'm no expert but I think it has something to do with the adhesives in the waterproofing products not sticking to OSB as well as plywood.

    220v or 110v for BendPak HD-7W 4-post lift?

    I bought the HD-9ST over the HD-7 because the price seemed about the same in my area and I figure more capacity is better. The 9ST fits well in my rather tight garage space. I've had the lift now for a couple weeks and used it this weekend to remove the transmission from my 63 Falcon. Love it!

    New Garage - Need Help Sizing Bendpak Lift

    I just had my Bendpak HD9ST installed last weekend and there was no requirement for 3' of clearance on the sides. I think you could install three out of four base plates within inches of walls if you needed to. Only the post where the motor/pump mounts needs more clearance.

    Modifying roof trusses for lift.

    If you look closely at the trusses there is most likely a stamp somewhere with the manufacturers name and phone number. Contact them and tell them what you want to do and they can probably engineer a modification and send their truss repair guys out to modify your trusses for a reasonable cost.

    My read of the report Jeff posted (thanks Jeff) is that 2729# is the design load of the column not the design rating.
