Yes I do. :) I was thinking that this might have been the backing for asbestos padding that a prior owner might have removed. But again, I have no idea. It's not padding, and it's not fibrous.

Just picked up a tanker desk -- Steelcase -- and while it doesn't have the asbestos padding on the inside of the desk, what it does have instead looks similar to roofing tar, and looks to have been applied with a notched trowel. It looks stable, isn't crumbling or friable, and I left it the...
