It's really not that difficult to remember once you use a new ratchet once or twice. There's literally 2 options

You lose, what, half a second searching for the opposite direction if you get it wrong? Not a big deal to me

I have a crazy rough Martin wrench, the finish on it is ridiculously bad. Broaching off center too. Might be a defective one but it's the worst looking tool I own

They're low back drag and priced to be disposable. Very durable except the handle will bend easily with a cheater pipe on it. 100% worth the purchase. Who really cares about the direction switch? Only 2 directions, it's not that hard to get used to even from SO ratchets

@Silver Lexus Garage Journal is a pretty tough crowd for this kind of thing lol. Won't hurt posting it here for a few sales for your buddy, but maybe try EDC forums as they'll be more open to "new" ideas or non-tool truck brands

That knurling looks perfect. Just the peak of the diamonds knocked off, still sharp enough. Def on the list for my next torque wrench. That bit holder looks pretty crazy!

What's the setup? Extension to bit holder to hex bit? Need more pics... Awesome looking torque wrench.

Somebody's gotta post some of those non-sparking tools to make that Snap-on 8 milly look cheap. Something a little more exotic lol

Lobtex from Japan makes some decent ones. Adjustables have their place and for certain jobs they're better than the Pliers wrench.

This is on machinery enclosures (carbon steel) that can be pretty thick. Once you get that bit heated up and smoking, it's a matter of time... A pilot hole might help but it's on the larger diameter steps on the bit that get mangled quick in my experience.

They're the best for sheet metal, but I haven't found one that'll last that long, even Titanium Nitride coated

If I have QC issues with a tool (I don't really care about minor chrome issues I've had even with high-end Japanese tools), my first instinct wouldn't be to post about it on a forum... THAT helps alert the manufacturer about quality problems and then improve.
