I have the light, and love it. The only negatives for me are the space it takes up in the van, and that you need relatively level ground to set it up.
I haven't run it long enough at one time to kill a battery, but after a couple of hours on high mode I still had two lights on the battery...

Fyi - I took a look at a display unit in Home Depot today and it had the new clamps. So it appears that the revised clamp design has made it into the distribution channel.
