As far as the concrete edge, the slab usually runs under the walls so the 10' width is not the edge of the slab ? If it is, I'm afraid the scissor lift is the better option.
felchi80,
Most people set the MaxJax up at 125" outside of baseplate to outside baseplate and that handles most cars that are in the 6k lb range.. I do not feel 120" (10') would be that big of a disadvantage. The scissor lift is always an option but the undercar access and ability to move it...
If I read this correctly, your only concern would be opening and closing the garage with a car on the lift.
The tracks on a roll up door can be easily moved up and out of the way, be sure that can be done on the slide up door you mentioned..
Good Luck !!

Sounds like the cables are to tight ?? One cable to tight will hold the opposite side up..
If it is a chain over pulley lifting design it should have a breather vent in the cylinder so air may not be the issue.

Vegaman_Dan,
Sorry we do not have any Covers.. Thanks for the idea, I will see what is available when the smoke clears.. Would help a lot as the Post has plenty of Grease that will pull in the dirt and dust when not in use.. I would probably approach a Company similar to the feedback from our...
