And the (near) finished product. Floor is done, but I am concerned about its longevity. Time will tell. Walls painted, bottom portion protected, chair rail attached. New storage added where necessary. Pics attached. My latest question. What to do about the stairs leading into the...

Should be called "Snap-ON Journal" instead of "Garage Journal"

Re: Should be called "Snap-ON Journal" instead of "Garage Journal" I've only been here a week. And I have seen people recommend several brands, yes, even Snap-On. I'm mostly curious how you go from "at time they tell me to go to the MANUFACTURE" (sic), to later in the post, suddenly "most"...

Garage Overhaul Using Rust Bullet for the Floor

I love this garage. Love. It. This is the look I am shooting for, except I can't be quite as minimalist as I would like to. (No separate workshop for me, which means my tools must go in the garage.) Please add my name to the "PM with info about the lettering" list! Matt

55 - thank you. Just checked out Chad and EMC2's garages. I will spending a ton of virtual time there.

    Lighting upgrade step-by-step

That's what I expected. So is a ceiling junction box different than a wall box? Should I use a new work box and go in from the bottom or old work and go in from above? And is a ceiling junction box for lighting going to be different than a ceiling box for an outlet? Clearly I need to go to...

    Lighting upgrade step-by-step

Now that I've been a member here for a whole 3 days, I shall begin asking questions in earnest! One of my upcoming projects is a lighting upgrade. 3-car garage, with a single incandescent bulb per bay. I plan to remove those incandescents and install 2 4 foot T-8 fixtures instead. I am...

Ceilings are drywalled, I was planning to hang the storage areas pretty much the same way the garage door rails and opener are hung, then run that angle iron down to the shelf, probably about a 4 foot drop. If there's a better way, I am all ears.

Oh my gosh, I love that planter/bike storage idea! Currently, the boy's bike resides in the garage...mine stays in the house. I am in an HOA, and my trash cans also live in the garage (cannot be visible from the street except on trash day.)

I like! But lattice has already been vetoed by the kitchen-in-chief. I was thinking fake stone, but none seems to be light enough to do it without a hassle. Not sure what other options there are. Luckily, still in the planning stages. Thank you!

    Hose storage?

Ok. This isn't "in-garage" so much as right outside the garage. What are you car guys doing with the car wash hose? My requirements: 1. That portion of the house has siding, so nothing that screws into the siding. 2. QUALITY, QUALITY, QUALITY. I am done with the $20 boxes that leak, won't...

I have room in the garage attic between the trusses for long term storage, but with the garage ceiling so high, it's not easy to access. I think I am going to keep exploring the under deck option...waterproofing underneath is a stroke of brilliance!

No trailers either allowed here either. But, I am forming a solution in my brain. My deck sits about 4 feet off the ground. Since I am doing the patio anyway, I could enclose the other three sides of the deck and stash my mower underneath it, with a little access door or something. I saw it...

Sigh, past tense. The roads, weather, and drivers in Illinois are not conducive to the way I ride motorcycles. I had a Yamaha FZ-1 and a couple Hayabusas before the move. The hunt for high-gloss paint begins this weekend! Lighting...ah, lighting. Going with the 4-foot T8s, and having...

DIF, I am hoping a 2-post is in my distant future, but not immediately. A loft along the back half would be amazing, but I think it's out of my wheelhouse unless I contract someone. I am definitely doing a 4 foot by 8 foot shelf above the big garage door on the front wall, maybe even...

Past tense. Had some 2-wheelers, a Yamahe FZ-1 and a couple Hayabusas. I think my motorcycling days are over now that I live so far north. I just can't bring myself to get rid of my Picotte replica helmets.
