    The VISES of Garage Journal

007, they are the original and are in remarkably good shape. That said, I did also turn them over so that the slightly scarred top edges now face down, but, they were really not bad at all and cleaned up like that with a wire brush on the angle grinder. Good call on the anvil. It is a little...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

I thought it was a pretty good deal for sure. Thanks for the heads up about the anvil... I thought about that after the fact. Might have to get the dremel out and buff that spot off. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    The VISES of Garage Journal

I picked up this Wilton 9450 a couple of weeks ago from a local buy and sell group on Facebook. Paid $30CDN for it ($24USD). Date stamp says 10/53. Pictures show it as I bought it, disassembled, and as it sits now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Wilton Bullet Vise Paint Colors and Timelines

Well, I got the old vise cleaned up and put a coat of paint on it. I looked high and low for Rustoleum Verde Green, but couldn’t find any, it doesn’t seem to be listed on the Rustoleum Canada website either. Either way, since I’m looking for a nice vise to use, not a museum piece, I went with...

Wilton Bullet Vise Paint Colors and Timelines

I’m happy with the purchase, took it home and started to clean it up. You can see the damage to the jaw in the photo here. That said, I’m planning to paint it up and use it in my shop, so value isn’t a huge issue for me. In the end it’ll be a good vise to use, and an interesting conversation...

Wilton Bullet Vise Paint Colors and Timelines

Thanks, I didn’t see that on there, so I guess 1953 it is. I figured it was pretty hard to beat that deal. The guy was probably 40ish and told me it was his grandfather’s vise. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Between 485 & 705 SQ/FT Mid-Century Moto Mecca Makeover

Gregor, I have been following your thread for what seems like forever now, but this is my first post. Somewhere way back I read about Wilton Vises... well, today I came across this one in a local buy and sell group and I picked it up. It’s a Wilton 9450 and the date stamp on the bottom reads...

Wilton Bullet Vise Paint Colors and Timelines

Turns out it’s a Wilton 9450, and the date stamp on the bottom says 10/53. So, does that mean it dates to 1953 or 1948? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Wilton Bullet Vise Paint Colors and Timelines

Just picked up a Wilton vice from a local guy on a buy and sell group. $30CDN... about $24USD. Interested to clean it up and see what sort of details I can find on it. My impression is that I got it at a steal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Log sided 3 bay project!

Subscribed. :) I have somewhat of a tie to Massachusetts... my mom's from Waltham. We just bought a log home here in British Columbia. Our place has a 20x30, 2 bay garage that's not yet sided and we're planning to use a similar log siding material to make it fit in with the house. Interested...
