great build! I didn't realize it was that big of a difference from side wall to peak for scissor trusses. I'd have a little less with 30' but I'd imagine at least 10'. Could let me go down to 18' side walls, I'll have to run the numbers to see if the additional cost of scissors outweighs the...
the back of the shop starts going up grade quickly, will likely have a retaining wall within 6 to 8' of the back, so not enough room to make a roll up usable. We could open the door in the back of the production shop for some air flow though.
And yes, we may have to go with a smaller DC in the...
The thought is to use it for open air storage. Could park a tractor there or stacks of wood that are drying or waiting to be processed. Or just buy 50 rocking chairs, lol. But I do like the idea of partially closing in the back for an open lean-to on the backside to keep the tractor totally...
great questions. facing North. What is the advantage of a higher porch in your opinion? Builder guided me to go lower (had it at 10') because the higher you go the less protection from driven rain. Good call on the door sizing for loud room. And there is a door in the back of production...
Shop will face due north so the enclosed lean-to will take the brunt of the prevailing winds and weather and open porch should be positioned nicely. Thanks!
Yes, will having running water one way or the other. Slop sink for washing hands and cleaning things is an absolute must and I won't move forward without it. As far as location and zoning go, this is where we'll be for the foreseeable future (10+ years) for various reasons. So trying to work...
I will be pushing hard for the bathroom, but the zoning commission for the city is like the Third Reich. So we'll see. That said, the house is 40 feet away, so not the absolute worst if it comes to it. And during the summer there are plenty of nice oak trees around :)
Hey, guys. It's finally time to build the mega dream shop and I'm not sure if this design is brilliant or horrible. Would love to hear from others with similar setups, especially 2 story post frame.
This will be for business/pleasure with woodworkng, metalworking, CNC and maybe some 3D...
Hi all, I'm adding in some new circuits to a 100A subpanel. I've decided to surface mount the outlets vs. doing EMT just to make it look nice. Since I'm not doing EMT I want to make the install as flexible as possible.
I don't have the immediate need, but could have future need for 240v on...
Thanks for the feedback! So if I understand what you are saying, if I use a 1.5" NM cable clamp on the 2/2/2/4 at the box then I don't need to secure it 12" from the subpanel entry?
Rick, it's my understanding that because in in the same attached building as the main panel that I don't need a shutoff. That the main breaker shutoff only applies after 6 circuits in detached structures. That's at least what I read in several other posts :)
I've got 1" mdf on one and 1/2" mdf on another. The 1" mdf is for stuff that gets pounded on and the 1/2" is more of just a general worksurface. Both have held up great!
Hmmm, I'm trying to figure out if my topic is just not interesting or if I somehow posted this wrong and so not many are seeing this.
Any insights?
Sorry for the newbness of this post.
