Anyone ever built a garage in a flood zone?

FEMA maps are very low resolution and use very simplified models that determine the magnitude of a "100 year flood". The likelyhood that the FEMA maps have the correct elevation at your property is probably pretty low. It's probably close, but in these situations, a foot could be quite a...

    Dealing with Conservation Commision

Massachusetts has a great application that allows any regular joe to do delineations themselves. It's run by the USGS. If you hire someone, they'll likely just do the same thing. https://streamstatsags.cr.usgs.gov/v3_beta/viewer.htm?stabbr=MA If you need help, shoot me a PM with the GPS coords...

    Craig-flakes

I sold a Mustang 5.0 a while back on the local craigslist, and I had money in hand less than 12 hrs after I posted the ad. I probably had 8 different missed calls and a bunch of emails within that time period, and the first guy showed up, drove the car and low balled me bigtime... I just flipped...

    Uses for sulphuric acid

Add a **** load of baking soda to it, and then dump it down the drain. I can't believe anybody is really thinking of using pure sulfuric acid for anything.. the stuff is NASTY... it will maim you very easily. Just stay away, it's not worth it.

    Duralast made in China?

Went into the local Autozone here to pick up some parts and noticed that all the new Duralast ratchets are the "Round head" cheap-*** Chinese design that all their cheaper Great Neck stuff is made with. There were a few nicer "Made in Taiwan" 1/2" ratchets still hanging up, with some cheap...

    Cutting Joists

Hey guys, I'm new here, been lurking for awhile, drooling at the garage gallery mostly. Anyway, I wanna install an attic access in my garage (attached to the house). The house is about 50 years old, and is built with 2X6 joists 16" oc. I want to cut out part of a joist and install a double...
