Replaced the windshield cowl, fresh air filter, engine air filter, and oil pressure sensor in my 2002 BMW 330xi. Next week I will replace the clutch and rebuild the shift pins in the transmission. Nice day in Virginia at 74 degrees and sunny! Yay!:3gears:
Good question! About a year ago I had a neighbor that was a regional manager for NAPA. He had mentioned a large tool contract with King Tony for NAPA, although I did not think much of it at the time. I only became interested after seeing Ron Capps racing for Carlyle and then winning a door prize...
I was driving by the local NAPA and saw Ron Capps funny car sitting outside so I stopped in. Wile there I filled out a card for a door prize. I won this Carlyle 3/8 drive set and I will tell you what I think.
First, many of you are wondering who makes Carlyle. A Taiwanese company called King...
I have also begun to question the quality control over at Craftsman. I found a set that I bought contained three tools, two extensions and a 1/2" breaker bar, with serious defects. The long extension was seriously bent, the short 1/2" extension was punched incorrectly so it would not mate at...
Your right except that I had taken them to Sears for replacement weeks ago. 90% of my hand tools are Craftsman and I was not attempting to bash them for any particular reason. I think for the money they are fine. I am simply saying that other brands such as Sk and SnapOn have tighter tolerances...
I recently purchased several sets of Craftsman Tools. Within the set I found one long 3/8 extension bent beyond belief, a 1/2 inch drive extension struck poorly on the female end to the point that nothing would work attach to it. I then had a 1/2 inch breaker bar that the male end was out of...
I have stuck with quality Made-in-USA tools as well and I don't mind paying a little extra for the quality. So what is the biggest difference in USA tools vs communist made tools? From what I have observed by doing my own testing and measuring it's the tolerances that really are where you get...
Best wrenches/ratchets go to SK Tool and Wright Tool. Both high quality and tight tolerances. http://www.wrighttool.com, http://www.skhandtool.com
Pliers: Knipex, bar none. Made in Spain but they are the best for price. http://www.knipex.com

America needs to focus on getting our manufacturing back from Asia and lowering our debt load substantially. There is nothing wrong with having a 9-5 production job making things.
All good points, though. Interesting discussion.
