That's precisely what I did (see my pics again). I have (2) 2x4's bolted across the joists spread 55" apart. I'm keeping an eye on things and will add additional support should the need arise. I don't think I'd have enough room to siamese any 2x4's long enough to make a difference as you suggested.

I used 1/2" eye bolts to provide the strength needed for this project. The joists are 2x4, 24" center. Looking back over my pics, you're right, the holes/bolts do appear huge but only occupy .50" .. or less than one third of the 2x4's actual width of 1.75". :)

I just finished installing the hardware needed to suspend the front of my ZX-12R from my garage ceiling. I used a method mentioned previously in this thread. Materials used were: (2)threaded 10" eye bolts, (2) lock washers, (2) nuts, (4) large and med size washers, (2) 50" 2x4's. I straddled...

Hey there fellow Pennsylvanian..I lived in Lancaster for nearly 34 years.

My XJ was sitting on a 6.5" RC suspension (post #40)..his looks a lot higher than mine..could be his smaller tires?? But yeah, i agree..the extra height from the lift doesn't help your stability at all.

My XJ..sold it a few months ago. :( Slid off ice covered driveway into 4 ft deep washout. Front sway bar still connected.
