Makes sense, thanks very much! There is a fair bit of area around the fitting and the gauge is obviously very light so hopefully cracking wont be an issue

OK thanks. So buy the kit you listed and the fitting and go to work. Is 3/8" depth enough to work with? Sorry its just the sizing nomenclature makes no sense to me!

Thank you. You guys are already over my head so I will try and keep it simple. So a 1/4 NPT is different than the 1/4 helicoil kits I have found at the hardware stores as those kits were way too small for my 1/4" brass fitting? So use the 3/8 NPT kit and screw the 3/8 to 1/4 fitting directly...

Sorry can you be more specific? Its the female connector into the plastic filter housing that is stripped

I havent been here for ages but always got great advice so am hoping someone can assist I have a pool filter where the 1/4" pressure gauge hole has been stripped. I thought I would helicoil it (its into hard plastic) and went out to get a kit but it hasnt been as easy as I thought. A 1/4"...
