    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT First Ever Garage - 30x40 Build

Was a blistering day today. Only one guy came today but he put in the work. Got it all grubbed and down to bare, fabric down, and first lift of pit run. Exciting to see the actual footprint down. Water is from a last minute torrential downpour that hit right as he was finishing.

    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT First Ever Garage - 30x40 Build

Progress. Channel has been socked in with rain and fog the last bit so hasn't been much movement. With the machine staged here now I'm hoping for a finished pad within the week. Once that's inspected and down itll be a weight off my shoulders. Spoke with an inspector and I guess drains here...

    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT First Ever Garage - 30x40 Build

Got the land cleared this week. Was a real treat solo in 30 degrees. All in took down a little over a dozen trees small to medium large, and hauled out over a dozen truckload of brush. Got the first 4 loads of pit run dropped today. Hopefully concrete goes in next week!

    Stubbing in Plumbing

The plan is to stub them in and have them come out just below the slab. When I tie in later ill drop it to below frostline and heavily insulate. Only cold water, Concrete guy isnt plumbing, just dropping sleeves through concrete for later use. That's pretty common? When i eventually connect...

    Stubbing in Plumbing

Hey all, concrete guy is coming out this week or next and I'm pressed on what to do for plumbing. Not in the books right now but I'm planning on stubbing in for water for a sink. If I'm planning on the sink in the back should I just have them run all the lines in the slab up to the front of the...

    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT First Ever Garage - 30x40 Build

Some spare cordage and I dragged the shed across the yard today. Figured it was cheaper than rolling it on posts. Ill have to get creative with the rope work when im tucking it in behind the finished garage.

    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT First Ever Garage - 30x40 Build

It's official. Permit came yesterday, so I can comfortably start locking down dates and materials. Need a space to fit vehicles, boat, and the wheeler over winter, and give me enough space to tinker and build. Build will be 30x40x12'8 sitting on a slab on grade. Subbing out the slab...

    Slope and drain/catch basin options?

Looks good! How much were the metal drain covers? That seems to be the biggest expense here. And do they drain somewhere or just hold water to be pumped out as required?

    Slope and drain/catch basin options?

That could be a good option. I also wonder if the majority of it would just evaporate, and be more of a pain in the *** to both have made, and lose things into. I feel like just grading the front half to the door and a squeegee will be easiest solution.

    Slope and drain/catch basin options?

Hey, previous thread got some traction when I was looking for help deciding on a grade plan for my shop. Decided on the rear "shop area" to be level, and have the front sloped towards the two front 10' wide doors to deal mostly with snow melt in winter, etc. Some helpful people pitched the idea...

    Sloped, Flat, or Both?

Looks like I can either get a 17x17x24 catch basin insert with a galvanized grate that I can drop into each bay, or look for several grates and do a longer 12" deep style trench in each bay. The former seems like it will be cheaper. Only around $300 in materials. The issue with a pump is as...

    Sloped, Flat, or Both?

Fantastic! Very intriguing! Its just a concrete pit with the lip to set the grate in? Nothing else? Seems like the best alternative, minus the price of steel grates.

    Sloped, Flat, or Both?

Hmm I've never actually thought of that being a possibility. I'll have to look into this and see how it works with regards to codes and the like. Have you ever seen these before? How deep would they usually go? Might be a great alternative Edit: as well as any freezing risks with it sitting...
