New House - Not too happy with the steps and walkway

Am I the only one seeing the strange optical illusion with this photo of these steps? Especially if you cover the right side of the picture? You look at it right and the rise and run swap... Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk

    Staining bamboo

I have a bamboo desktop that I want to stain a dark color. I've heard bamboo is "different" to finish. Does anyone have any experience with staining bamboo and any tips? Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk

Garage is framed, bigger than I thought

You got the approvals and it's your property, and the neighbors have to adjust to that. That said, offering to do some landscaping / fence / paint the side facing them the color of their choice, etc. can often go a long way to smoothing things over. It might be worth the bucks for happier...

Hiring a GC for a complete build

I wouldn't pay for work that hadn't been done nor any materials that haven't been installed/assembled. Pay for the parts of the building as it is completed, never before. So, nothing up front, except a token, $1000 Max by law in California. Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk

    Internet in the boondocks

There are stories all over of people who have bought homes hoping to get good Internet. And when the couldn't, end up moving away! Check with the neighbors. And if you really need Internet for your business, be absolutely positive what you need is available. And don't trust any cable or phone...

The darn Liftmaster MyQ Warning Beep

The darn Liftmaster MyQ Warning Beep

It's a detached garage and I closes the door at night from the house and was shocked at how loud it was. I was afraid I woke all the neighbors as 2 other homes are as close to my garage as my house is. City life. It seems close to the volume of a fire alarm, just a bit quieter. Sent from my...

Does your garage door fill the opening, or do you see the vinyl trim on the sides?

I suspect the garage door company is going to be unwilling to send you new doors if you signed off on the size. This is a measure twice before ordering kind of thing. The advice above about redoing your door trim instead is a good advice... Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk
