Know anything about Delta 36-979 Table Saws?

Just researched the PALS kit. It's only $20. Appears to be a worthwhile purchase. I'm gonna jump on that. Guess I need a dial indicator too. I don't know if this has a stock splitter or not, to be honest. This is my first table saw so I'm not very familiar with all aspects of them. I know I...

Know anything about Delta 36-979 Table Saws?

I just picked this "industrial" table saw up at auction for $351.00. I've been wanting a decent table saw for a long time and Delta seems to be a good name in the biz so I just lept without looking. Turns out there's little to no info on them on the internet. Plenty of info on the 36-752 saw but...

Tell me about this old Delta Homecraft table saw

Interesting stuff, guys. Thanks for the responses. I'd love to get more vintage Delta homecraft stuff but my shop space is pretty severely limited so I need "one saw, right saw". But man was it tempting. Seller claims all parts are there and functional. Has the original owners manuals and the...

Tell me about this old Delta Homecraft table saw

I managed to find this site with pics of an identical saw that's been refurbished. Looks pretty nice but I don't think this thing will be of great use to me. The blade size will always be a limiting factor and the tilting table is just no good for me...

Tell me about this old Delta Homecraft table saw

So it is a tilting table instead of a tilting blade! And only 8" to boot! Drat!

Tell me about this old Delta Homecraft table saw

Does anybody know anything about these things? All I know is that the original owner bought it around 1946 and that it's a Delta Homecraft. Don't know blade size or horsepower. I suspected that this was a tilt table design but the seller claims its a tilt blade. That and the blade size are my...

Anyone ever see a vise slide like this before?

Yeah, the more I look at that the more I think it's a break or a hack job. I've looked at every old Athol catalog picture I can find and there aren't any vises that look like that in the ads.

Here's one of the vises in question. What'dya think? Broken or factory done?

Anyone ever see a vise slide like this before?

Small world! Now I'm gonna have to dig through the vises of gj thread.

Anyone ever see a vise slide like this before?

    It's definitely on both sides.

Anyone ever see a vise slide like this before?

Sorry for the bad picture. If you can't see it clearly, this slide has a semi-spherical cut removed from the back bottom portion of the slide. The first time I saw such a cut I figured it was a home done job. But then I saw it again so now I'm thinking it must be from the factory. Here's the...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Also finished a Hollands 15 that I gifted to my father-in-law. My in-laws have always been extremely generous with their time and resources for my family. Unnecessarily so. But it's still appreciated. He wanted a fixed base vise for sharpening his mower blade so I gave him this. It's nice to see...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Gotta get in on pg 2400. Finally finished Big Blue. The Charles Parker 976 seen here with my Craftsman 5161. The original #3 wrench was long gone so I replaced it with an appropriate 6pt Billings.

Chas Parker vise restoration advice needed

More great info. Mixing graphite into grease? You clearly know a heck of a lot more about this then I do, Carla. Is there a particular graphite grease or antisieze product you could recommend by name?

Chas Parker vise restoration advice needed

Thanks for the info, everyone. Much appreciated. As I try to stick somewhat with the tools at hand I have to ask. After painting the non-friction surfaces what would you guys think of spraying the friction surfaces with WD-40 "Specialist" Long Term Corrosion Inhibitor and the wedge and it's hole...
