From outta town -best place to buy tools

In Round Lake there is a place called Butler Tools, that has a lot of Snap-On. Primarily used/slightly used, but brand new as well. It is about an hour and a half from Aurora but if you want to see and feel Snap-On it might be worth the ride. For Proto brand tools you could go to grainger.com...

    Blackhawk - current stuff

I use many Blackhawk brand tools at work. Granger is the primary seller of Blackhawk. Most of my Black-hawk is US made. I know that my chrome sockets are US and my pliers and my impact sockets. The ratchets and all the wrenches are Taiwan. I think my punch and chisels are US as well. I have a...

Anyone tried the new PROTO ratchets?

I have the Proto at home and the Armstrong at work. I have the best at home. I like the feel of the Proto better. The Armstrong have more teeth and are smooth, but the Proto feel much more substantial, and the grip is much more comfortable in my hand. The Proto are less money as well. Also the...

    MAC sockets

I know the original post was about MAC sockets. I know that some members of this forum have not cared for the MAC tools that they have purchased. I just wanted to add to this thread, that if you are not a professional auto tech, and you have a MAC dealer that you like, and easily does business...

    Snap On sockets

Now you know why I thought to ask you guys. When two people tell you the same thing, and you know that they don't know each other, and it sounds crazy you start to question yourself a little bit. I know that I am sane, Thanks. I can get Proto and Armstrong at a discount, so I think a little...

    Snap On sockets

Good question! I'm not sure yet. I can tell a little difference, but I have not used any Mac, Matco, or Cornwell sockets. I know 2 people who only use SO sockets, but they don't think the brand of ratchets matter. I don't agree with them about that at all. So here I am just curious about others...

    Snap On sockets

Here is the story. On Monday I had to replace yet another battery alternator combo on one of my Mail trucks, third in as many days. I was tired of straining my self doing it without 1/2" drive metric sockets, 3/8" just wswn't quite enough. So I went out to buy a 13 mm 1/2" drive when I spotted...

Vehicle Operations & Maintenance Assistant for the US Postal Service(VOMA). I am responsible for four facilities vehicle needs. I don't fix 'em unless I have too. Mostly, I make sure that routes are covered vehicle wise and if need be drop what ever else I might be doing to address any problem...

    Blue-Point???

Who has Blue-Point and what do you think about what you have? Is BP just Taiwan made Snap-On or just overpriced import stuff?(low quality). I like the look and price of their ratchets for my diy projects.

    Question about SK

I have a few Proto tools in my box. As well as a number of Blackhawk items in my travel box. I think some Blackhawk is just rebranded Proto, but I don't know that for sure.

    Question about SK

Sorry I guess I was to excited before. My question. What is the history of the company, and how does SK compare in the hierarchy of the tool world? I get the impression somewhere above Craftsman but below the big four truck brands. Also why is it so hard to find brick and mortar retailers here...

    Question about SK

I have been using a 1/4 in. drive and 3/8 in. drive set of sockets from SK at work. I don;t know much about SK other than the young techs that work on my fleet don't know anything about them, but the old times know that they'd to be thought of as a quality brand. I know that I really like what I...
