Re: How often are you tightening your connections
One would be surprised to learn that it's fairly even...loose connections resulting from overtightening or over torquing electrical fasters are just as common as loose or failed connections from fasteners not being tightened enough.
A loose...
Anyone have any experience with running a steam washer AND a steam gas dryer on a single 20A circuit?
I don't have any experience with fancy steam w/d units - if these were non-steam, no problem - single circuit would be no problem.
I'm about to install a new fancy front loader washer & gas...
Are they reusuable? I haven't used/specd the newer ones yet. I was looking (for only a few
minutes) for the instructions and wasn't able to find an explicit statement...
Exactly.
My buddy is a primary inventor/engineer of AFCI at major breaker company. He said they should not have tripped given the location and loading the loading of the circuits. He said it didnt make sense unless noise on the line was somehow causing a trip. RFI /EMI is known to cause AFCIs...
FYI...
Don't know how I missed these...this was pointed out on another forum to me.
WAGO has a whole series of connectors that can be mounted on DIN RAIL or in a J-Box that are also LISTED. I've been using WAGOs of various types for years...never realized they had mounting options for...
Basically Recognized is a component used in a larger (finished) system that will then be Listed. When a system becomes Listed, UL validates it is safe to use for the application in the field when we installed per mfr instructions...
A Recognized item is a component that has some the various...
Yup...dropping major coin on afci breakers. I know some people have issues with them...I have not with the newer gen products. Most of the time, if an AFCI trips, there is an issue.
I had ALL the afci outlets trip in my house several times over the period of two weeks. couldn't find the issue...
This is incorrect.
Breakers will supply 100% of their rating just about indefinitely. My experience in the lab testing various breakers for PQ gear also substantiates this conclusion - in fact, only 'good breakers' would trip @ 110% of rating in an hour or so.
Per the NEC, the max continuous...
Doing a simple continuity check or ohmmeter/resistance check is not sufficient to detect a wiring fault - you'd need a meggar. Sounds like you have pinched romex under a staple or kinked/damaged the insulation somewhere along the way. Happens to the best of us.
I am working on a house renovation in California. A panel needs to relocated (about 20 circuits) - I've gutted the old panel and will be using it as a junction box.
My questions is this: can I use DIN Rail terminal blocks or barrier strips instead of a CF of wire nuts? Code says the blocks...
I like that idea, however, I'd still need to transition to UF from NM/MC/EMT/whatever that is on the inside (this is a reno) ....so I'd need a jbox somewhere. If I do opt for UF, aren't I am forced upsize all the wiring just for the sleeve? (ex: UF #12 is 20A @ 60degC -> if two UF in a single...
Need some collective wisdom...What is the easiest way to get this done? Anyone see any issues with this approach?
I have a 6" diameter PVC 'sleeve' through an 10" exterior foundation wall from the crawlspace. The sleeve is at grade and is ~5' below the main panel. Main panel is on the...
Thx Wylie... This is why I like this forum.
The trick with the attic would be to know what temp to assume. As far as I can tell, there is no guidelines to assume for temp rise in an attic space. External ambient temps around here exceed 90F only a few times/year...and if I am...
