Thanks for checking yours Mark. I'm being a bit **** about finding out all I can about my vise....wish I had asked about it before my papa passed on in 1995, but these old tools and a couple of old tobacco pipes are the only things of his that I have.

It's faint, but it's between 3:30 and 6:00. It looks like it was stamped on after it was machined. Not the best light in my garage and I only have an iPad camera. It definitely says 1867...

Parker owners: Have any of you noticed if the yoke has patent dates punched into the end also? I just noticed that mine does. It's hard to see and this picture *****, but you can make out the "1867" date.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a thrust bearing/washer to place under the retainer collar of my Parker No 1? It has a little slop that I'd like to tighten up.

You could be right, but I don't think my hack saw/angle grinder marks had much intrinsic value. Let's face it, the monetary value of an old vise can't be more than $100-200, but it is priceless to me. I may think twice next time I grab my angle grinder, but I probably won't :D I probably...

Yeah, I've pretty much decided it may do more harm than good, so I decided to just clean them up a little.

I know, they became obvious after about 10 minutes of filing :)
