    Mini split for 8' x 10' shed

Thanks everyone - great advice. Quickfarms, I do like the idea of redoing the roof as you're suggesting. With that approach though, I'll have no venting at the top, right?

    Mini split for 8' x 10' shed

I could do that. Roof is already complete (I'm retrofitting this thing...it's old) and it gets a lot of direct sun exposure. Do I have to fur out enough to create an inch or so of an air gap between the insulation and the roof underlayment?

Thanks Mike. I was planning to drywall everything in, just not sure what to do around the roof

    Mini split for 8' x 10' shed

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. i'd love to put a ceiling in but the shed itself is only 7.5' tall. Ceiling would be less than 6' and I'm 6'3" hence the predicament.

    Yes, good idea. I agree

    Mini split for 8' x 10' shed

Thanks. i think I'll go with the wall unit AC and a portable heater. What about insulating the ceiling? I've got 2x4 rafters so not much room, and no vents currently. Can I do a hot installation or do I need venting between the ceiling installation and the roof underlayment?

    Mini split for 8' x 10' shed

Thanks. I agree that just cutting and framing an AC unit would be the cheapest. Maybe I use a portable heater for the limited winter we get here. Thanks all for the advice.

    Mini split for 8' x 10' shed

I could but there will only be one window. For aesthetics i was hoping to preserve the window "view"

    Mini split for 8' x 10' shed

Thanks. Should I worry about the system being too big and over-cycling? It'll only be 80 ft2

    Mini split for 8' x 10' shed

Thinking of insulating and finishing my small shed (8x10) to use as an office. Austin, TX based, hence very hot much of the year. Would a small mini split make sense for this space (or is this a bad idea altogether?)? Seems like 6K BTUs would be overkill but what would be the alternative...
