Good small cutters for guitar strings

I prefer one of the string winder/hard wire cutter tools. I think I have the planet waves one. Never had any problem with the edges cutting guitar, bass, or mandolin strings.

Tool Brands you cannot stand . . .

I Have disliked every Wera tool I've tried and many seem to feel cheap and/or gimmicky for what they are. Not sure I'm at the hate level, but not spending any more money on them.

    who hangs spanners?

Mine are in a drawer either on their sides to save space for the big ones or in rolls that I can grab and carry out to what I am working on. I'm not a fan of hand tools hung up and have otger priorities for my precious wall space.

    Ratcheting wrench recommendations?

The laminated ones are pretty terrible in my opinion for whatever its worth. Coarse teeth, heavy back drag, and very big heads make them pretty hard to use for much.

Is Metal Supermarkets Ripping Me Off?

The point I should have clarified there is, we aren't the mill's customer, Metal Supermarkets and their ilk are. Though I certainly can't speak to all mills, I wasn't seeing a change in thickness on the cold roll we made or the hot roll we made it from. The mills I dealt with all dealt with...

Is Metal Supermarkets Ripping Me Off?

Mills sell by the ton, but customers tend to buy by the foot. They want the most length they can get out of that coil. At least that was my experience at the steel mill.

Buying tools because I want them, but DON'T NEED THEM !

I'm usually not under the illusion that I need any tool, especially past the basics, but I do typically tell myself that it will save money, do the job faster, etc. Now buying sets instead of individual pieces as needed, I'm as guilty as it gets there, though I'm starting to dial that back now.

Especially since OP was last here in 2014.

Craftsman wrench set on ebay for $2500?

Not professional here, but I've used mine plenty and never felt they were fragile. Grandpa was a millwright and swore by the older ones he had.

Tools that you thought were stupid to buy and now can’t live without.

I thought oscillating multitools were largely a gimmick for years. I got a dremel one on clearance to try and when it works it works great

Cheap socket set for vacation house?

They had been sprinkling just enough in to make life interesting since at least the 80's though.

Is the Best Diaper Bag a Tool Bag?

We also do a fair bit of walking around the neighborhood or wherever we are and saw no need to bring too much stuff. I always leaned toward the one big pocket idea with backpacking so that probably shaped my thoughts. The bag we use is more or less the standard one big pocket and a front...

Is the Best Diaper Bag a Tool Bag?

The bottle was in the backpack or a cooler depending on the trip, though I didn't travel much without Momma and when we did take a bottle it was usually in the camper with a fridge. #1 was born pretty much right in the covid lock downs so that changed our trips out for a while. We needed to...

Is the Best Diaper Bag a Tool Bag?

My preference was folding changing pad in a backpack with whatever clothes, snacks, whatever were needed for the trip.

Info on new Tekton ratcheting wrenches

Is there some standard size that interchanges with 18mm? 18mm seems to be common on their small engine spark plugs. Mines an outboard, but seems to be common on motorcycles. Can't recall on the mower, but I know I've used that socket a few times on stuff before I got a Ford.
