I've moved a box from LA to LV (4hr drive) in a pickup. Used an inverted furniture dolly to chock the wheels, a moving blanket to cover the tops and sides, and 3 16ft ratcheting tie downs. Two over the top and one around the back to secure it to the front of the truckbed. Be sure to use folded...
Finally got the Wilton vise i ordered today. Since when was this **** made in china? "made in china to Wilton's specifications" Like heck it is! so much slop in the axis.
Elaborating on tight tolerances: can't have wobbling bits/chucks. Need it really clean and plumb. May need to grind some uneven surfaces down so will need to sacrifice a bit towards the end to grind laterally, perpendicular to the bit.

I am looking for the American made ones by delta but all I see around here are the made in Taiwan ones.

I snapped up a set a few weekends ago. maybe I just need to break them in but they are a bit stiff. prior to this set I had the thin profile ratchets. (made in usa) and before that, the old craftsman ratchets. again, maybe I just need to break them in but the thin profile ratchets (well worn) do...

If you live in temperate climates such as southern California, then grease wouldn't get hard enough to make the ratchet slip. However, I have noticed that if you work in sandy conditions, the grease attracts sand and grit into cracks and crevices. I personally use the same oil I use in my air...
