A future project: a sleep deadman switch

Try setting a sleep timer on an alarm clock. If you fall asleep the radio turns off. If you are still awake and hear it turn off that is your signal to get up and do something else.

    250 watt HPS fixture

The original bulb likely produced 25,600 Lumens. You are looking for a Led bulb that pulls 300 watts not a 300 watts equivalent bulb shop for lumen output and socket type. Note the LED will not be more efficient than the HPS in lumens per watt but the light color will be better. Walta

    Two 240V loads one breaker?

As best as I can tell when the 120V 15 Amp plug is installed it pulls 12 Amps and with the 240 V 50 Amp plug installed it pulls 32 Amps. Have a look at eBay item # 366343144785 I think it is the same model. Ultium brand when I looked last fall I did not find much info.

    Two 240V loads one breaker?

I did not count the conductors or note the size of the conduit but it was clear that 3 more #6 wires were not going to fit. I assumed it had been installed correctly. Is there something I should be concerned about?

    Two 240V loads one breaker?

I wish I could find a way to set this chargers current draw. All I can say is people are strange sometimes and the Cadillac came with this charger and seems unlikely he will spend money for another as long as this one is doing the job. At least the THHN is good for 40 Amps and the breaker...

    Two 240V loads one breaker?

Last fall my friend bought an EV and was charging it very slowly with the 120V 15A charger the manufacture provided. It came with a 240 connecter for the charger at 30A or so. As a temporary solution I disconnect the AC unit that he has run maybe 5 times in 20 years. I assumed that it would also...

    240 V line voltage t stat ... Load & Line?

If the thermostat happened to be electronic / digital the line and load would be important. It is also possible that the part labeled line and load are shared between the mechanical and electronic models It is also possible the load side has some filter caps on that side to limit electrical...

    I Love Lamp

I am afraid that those screws go thru and the part they go into anchors to the springs that balance the light. In other threads people have found it difficult to reassemble the spring balance. Best not to mess with the working springs. Also. there may not be much clearance between the weight and...

Harbor freight 5hp 1180 rpm compressor pump to my vintage Craftsman 5hp 1725 rpm motor

Like I said in post 25 if the motor pulls more than 25 Amps it is overloaded and will likely fail before long. If it pulls too many Amps you will need a smaller pulley.

You will need a power cord strain relief loke the one in this Amazon link. That will fit your new cord. You will need to file out the hole in the lamp to fit the strain relief without the cord in the relief so when you install it with the cord it will be a very tight fit and not pull out...

The safe move is to replace the old 2 wire cord and plug with a 3 cord and plug connecting the ground wire to the metal base of the lamp. Assuming the old ballast has a little leakage to the case the new ground wire will safely carry it away. If the old ballast or wiring has a short circuit to...

    Getting into Solar

Any of the car manufacturers warranty there EV battery for 15 years? I think not. Maybe the plan is to go out of business when the warranty costs get too much.

    Getting into Solar

From a cost effective point of view on grid with battery backup make no sense and is bordering on laughable unless you have some crazy utility rates and some places do. Batteries are very expensive and tend to have very small capacities. If you can get net metering from your utility, they...

Harbor freight 5hp 1180 rpm compressor pump to my vintage Craftsman 5hp 1725 rpm motor

I disagree almost all the high-quality US made compressors pre 1980 used 1800 RPM motors because fewer RPM equals less wear and longer life and quiet operation. High RPM equals low purchase price. Yes, there was a market for compressors for HVAC controls but they would not have been 2 stage...
