I am going to be installing a 9x7 and a 16x7 garage door. I am not sure what size opener is needed. I'm sure a 1/2hp is big enough for the 9x7 but is that also big enough for the 16x7?
Thanks for any help.
@Hondaracer2004....... I agree completely that there is no need for the lvl, but Home Depot wants a %20 re-stocking fee to return them so I figured I might as well just use them.
It is not load bearing, I have 1 16x7 door and 1 9x7 door. One lvl is 1 3/4 thick x 10'' wide x 16ft long. The other one is 1 3/4 thick x 10'' wide x 9ft long.
So I would need to nail 2 lvl's together? If so I will have to special order 2 more because they only sent 1 per door which I really don't want to do. My plan was to nail a 2x10 to the lvl to give me the thickness I need and then set it on double 2x4 jack studs.
I am going to be framing a 16ft and a 10ft garage door this weekend. Home Depot sent me an lvl for each door header. They are 1 3/4 thick, to me that doesn't seem to be enough for a header. Am I wrong or is that plenty strong enough for a 16ft door?
Thanks for any help.
