This wasn't even just a HD-recommended installer, it's someone that they themselves hired. I never paid them a cent, I paid HD and they hired the local company (who happens to be the largest installer in town, for better or worse).
Thanks for the support. I'll try a few more times to get...
Well, after an 8 month fight, both Home Depot and Clopay told me to **** off and won't help me at all. After both first saying it was clearly wrong and I should get new doors to resolve.
Would you mind taking a few photos for me to see this? My wife is really not on board with this plan as of now. I'd love a wide shot from a few feet away, as well as something a bit closer. Thanks!
So, update. Their best installer was out tonight and spent over an hour adjusting everything on this door and the opener to try and get it as good as it could be. It's really no better and there's only so much he can do.
I did notice something VERY interesting I hadn't seen before. The old...
Another installer from the company was out tonight and agreed the decorative hinges are in the wrong spot. Well that was easy. The installer here last night said he disagreed with me and there was no problem.
So.. resolved on that point. Onto the bigger issue in my other thread.
I'm only seeing exterior seals. If there are inside seals, I'm open to that and will mention it to the installer when he comes out tonight to discuss this with me.
Okay, I'm open to options. I've never seen inside brush seals or any other manner of inside garage door weather stripping. I've seen the ones that would replace the exterior stop molding but nothing on the inside. I'm willing to consider that as a solution, and appreciate the idea. This...
Actually, that's not the case here. This door is available in any size with 2" increments. So a 16' 0" door is the same price, same time to mfr and arrive, as a 16' 2" door. It's a Clopay Canyon Ridge.
Most definitely, I've got probably 4" of wood framing around the door that could support a...
1) The installer is the one who ordered the doors too, and they measured the opening to decide what size to order.
2) There is approximately 1/2-5/8" of exterior stop molding visible from inside the garage. Meaning, the door is narrow to the point of without that molding, you can stick your...
Just to put a "WTF" moment onto this thread, I went out today to take a picture of the door and saw this: the @#$ing stop molding found it's way BEHIND the decorative hinge. But the installer said it's fine. Um, NO!
.
edit - looks like the screw is coming out, too. This just gets better and...
Well I spoke with Clopay and the said in no uncertain terms that you want a door that exactly the size of the opening or larger. Definitely not smaller, even by 1/2". So 16' 2" should have been used for my home. I'll be calling the garage door place shortly.
I really can't. The jambs are...
I'd agree except they measured the opening and ordered the doors. So if it's wrong, it's not on me.
My house is stucco - so removing the jambs and adding a thin piece behind it to fill out the gap, and replacing the jambs, would make for thousands of dollars in repair work on the outside of my...
Okay now I'm really confused. The outside vinyl weather stripping trim is the stop molding - applied from the outside. There's also stop molding to apply on the inside?
