Aging mom and I need to install grab handle bars. Bought some nice ones off eBay and installed some on the walls of the bathroom, but she needs a few in the tub too.
The tub is one of those dumb jacuzzi type tubs with controls, and it's part of a big plastic piece that makes up the whole...
Central Ca. Gets down to about 38 at night lately, and high of low 60's. The usual rough winter temps. Haha. It only recently started doing this maybe last three months. But it only used to do it sometimes, and now has progressed to every time. I don't know how it would operate in warm summer...
You can see the tension in the chain is causing the gear shaft to pull towards the garage door, which causes the teeth of the (unused) top metal gear to go under the plastic cover that extends towards it. Shaft lean can't be good, even though it looks like the teeth aren't hitting on anything...
House is 15yrs old.
Sound stops and garage door stops at same time.
Released the pull handle and was able to slide the door all the way, no problem. I think you guys are right in the spring thing is broke. I can't see a break of the coil on visual inspection, but that is definitely what is...
This happens every time I open the garage door:
1. push button -> starts opening and about 1' up, it makes a loud sound and stops.
2. push button -> goes back down just fine.
3. push button -> opens all the way, without problem.
4. push button -> closes all the way without problem.
I keep...
As someone mentioned real estate, it was amazing when Kmart was going under, that none of the potential buyers realized the value of the real estate Kmart owned across the US. Literally nobody wanted to take over the failing Kmart. Yet, they have so much prime real estate holdings Lambert and co...
Sears was doomed a long time ago.
Add them to the graveyard of companies that Walmart and Amazon has smashed into bankruptcy. The rise of Home Depot and Lowes has also had a significant effect on Sears bottom line. Not to mention the fashion industry which has seen the rise of individual brand...
Taking a guess, but looks like an older version of a desk lamp clamp. Clamps onto the edge of a table or desk, and you put the end of the swivel light in the hole so it can rotate and be supported. Relatively flat so it doesn't protrude from the table very much.
Similar but newer of course...

The popular theory that counters this is that thieves often look for easy pickings, and even the slightest deterrent can often cause them look for an easier target.
But you're right, if he's being specifically targeted, then usually the thief already knows what you have, and is coming to get...
I suppose it all depends on where you're located. I've gone to HD and Lowes and found good material. But other times I've gone there and it seems like every board in the stack is seriously warped and I find myself digging through 20 to find 1 good one. I also see lots of marred edges from the...
I'll admit, I had to look up annular space. Haha.
There were two sizable holes in the wallboard where the pipes go into the wall. The holes were about 2x as large as they needed to be probably. You can see in one of the 'before' pics, the foam on the hot water outlet into the wall. The hole was...
JRC3 is correct. You can read about bonding wires here:

JRC3, that is a scary pic. How has that house not burned down yet?
Inspector is coming back out today to review my handy work. Let's hope he likes what he sees.
Where I live in...
