Yes it has been this long since I logged into GJ...LOL. Thanks for the advice Grouseman. I sold the 65 and have a 67 Shelby now. I will not use the vise to press u-joints.

VISE REPAIR 101 all vise repairs, lubricants, sources for parts and the tricks to fix

Thanks Matt! Leg support of the Gladiator bamboo bench did not let me mount it with 2 feet forward and one in the middle at the back as it should be. I also didn't want it in the middle of the bench so I mounted it off to the side. I will be able to do anything I need to with the swivel...

Very nice! Nice to be able to switch out jaws like that. No such luxury with Parkers. Gotta find ones with excellent jaws to start with to restore.

My 974.5 Parker vise restoration is finally complete! I finished lettering it this week with a black Sharpie paint marker (fine tip). Perfect for the job and I would recommend using it rather than trying to letter it with a brush. I used anti-seize on the large bolt that connects the swivel base...

Then, when it arrived, I placed it in my cordless drill supported on my bench and used the...

I posted this in the wrong vise forum I think a couple of days ago, but I think the post belongs here. I bought this 974.5 Parker Vise (4.5 “ jaws) on Craigslist for $150 over a year ago (WWII era vise). I chose it for the pristine condition of the jaws primarily, but the entire vise is in...

Bones, I really like your restoration on the Fulton too! There is something addictive to working on raw iron and steel.

I bought this 974.5 Parker Vise (4.5 “ jaws) on Craigslist for $150 over a year ago (WWII era vise). I chose it for the pristine condition of the jaws primarily, but the entire vise is in excellent condition. It looks like it has hardly been used. The seller shipped it in a box poorly...

Soak it in Simple Green for 4 days and then wire wheel/cup it carefully, especially be careful with the corners and the jaws.

From what I have read, the Trojans were Parkers economy models. They don't look like they have separate jaws from the iron castings?
