New garage going up neighbor pitching a fit

If you are legal and continue to build by the book, tell her to F off. This kind of thing really pisses me off. After trying to explain to her that this was OK and you diid what you could to reduce any impacts, I'd then go out of my way to piss her off if she kept nagging.

    birds

pellet gun a few of them and those that live will quicklhy get the idea. The concept is to teach them this is not a safe place. They are smart birds and can tell the difference between life threatening and lame. Static deterrents, as mentioned above, fail. The order in which it is hardest to...

    The animal underneath

Depends on where you are at. Not many ground hogs in the west. But, gas cartridges are pretty effective at killing critters. Make sure you pug up all other holes, insert gas cartridge, cover hole with news paper, cover that with dirt to seal the hole. Dead critters. Another option is a 220...

    Sliding cabinet doors

After reading the musician's build in SoCal, sliding doors make all the sense in the world. Closet doors would be a fairly economical approach too. Dual tracks should give more than enough room to slide the doors well out of the way. Triple would be better tho. I have a few months til I'm at...

    clean slate

Looks like you got the right side started prety well already. Cabinets with sliding doors. And mouse bait or snap traps so you don't end up with electrical problems.

Time for real lights in my 20x32x11' garage

Wowser. That's a lot of lights :) I can handle the wiring part of removing the porcelain fixtures and adding the 4 or 8' ballasts. But if it's not necessary, I don't need to add extra work. The grounding concern makes sense. I hadn't thought of that. I like the idea of 4'ers for the ease of...

Time for real lights in my 20x32x11' garage

The garage is attached and insulated, but not heated. There are currently 6 basic porcelain incandescent ceiling fixtures with 100W light bulbs and I have nowhere near enough light. 4 of them are out in the open and two are directly above my 4'x8' ceiling storage racks that are full of...

    Finally started my garage project.

I know my wife would never allow such a thing, thank goodness. :lol_hitti But I am going to go with the sliding panel doors for my new storage. Saw this guy did it to his 335... http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=571996&highlight=polish+exhaust That's just way tooo OCD for me...

    Things I wish I knew 20 years ago . . .

Hammers are for hitting things other than nails. If you need to nail somethng, use an air compressor and nail gun. Get air tools the first time you can use them. Buy the right ones the first time, you'll have them for every time thereafter.

Finally got my 32 x 50 boat/tandem truck garage permitted

Permiting alone was over $2,500, including his time screwing with the County (personal meetings: face and phone time) about a BS stormwater quality survey need (which the County finally back away from) and some impervious surface additions that the County required we do a couple years ago (and...

Finally got my 32 x 50 boat/tandem truck garage permitted

I have about $6,500 into the architect and permitting costs then about $57k -$62k depending on the final finishing touches. The wife said I'm not allowed to play in the build on this one, so it's all being contracted. The lift and backup generator are not included yet either.

    Finally started my garage project.

Very cool. I love the storage idea about sliding doors. Huge space savers and I'm right with you about cabinet doors hitting the cars. We are dedicated bimmer owners too, just the smaller ones. Love the masculinity of the M6, but don't have the chances to enjoy the top end power compared to...

Finally got my 32 x 50 boat/tandem truck garage permitted

First time posting the garage build. I haven't poured through many of the build pages, so I'll do that to see if I can find a similar project. The concrete up front is to match our porch on the front of the house. It'll be exposed aggregate. The concrete stemwalls r also to prevent water...
