Sorry to hear that! If a development is proposed I'd recommend attending all public meetings and even speaking at your town council in opposition of any proposal that doesn't fit the neighbourhood "vibe". Try and can get some neighbours onside as well. Good luck.

Winter is coming to an end here, but I'm looking at options for heating a small detached one car garage (under 300 sq ft) next season. I don't intend to heat the garage all the time, only looking to heat things up for the handful of times I may end up working in the garage over the winter...

Going a bit off topic here... Couldn't help but notice you said you work with software in the healthcare industry. Mind if I ask what type of software? Some sort of medical specific software, or like an ERP? Just wondering as I'm in the same line of work...
Basement is preferred I believe. If you keep it in your garage make sure you keep any power tools elsewhere or locked up. And find some way to regulate the humidity.
