About 30 years ago I installed a boat lift for a 16' runabout. It has a 1/2 hp motor. My first mistake was running 12-2 200' from the main panel in the house. It worked OK until I got a slightly bigger boat. If the motor is stopped on the way up, it doesn't have enough power to continue...

I've got the Sears enclosed 30' retractable. Since it's first use, the hose will not completely retract. Very time consuming to get it down to 4' dangling toward the floor. I would like to find a 50' capacity with the HF quality but with a good hose.

Over 2 years since this post and they are still the same rude, condescending crowd. They build an extremely good lift so hopefully I'll not have to communicate with them again.

I went to Greg Smith in Delaware to pick up a Direct Lift 9k lb 4 post. That lift was all gone and they talked me into the Atlas 9k Garage Pro saying it was identical to the Direct lift except for the certification. I paid $3390 for the lift, including a $695 rolling jack and a 18 gallon oil...

Had no idea.......seems a little dishonest.

Explain "downgraded" Isn't 14 kw= 14 kw?. Fuel consumption may be different. What am I missing?

True....9'x8' door gets a 9'x8' opening. I lay the block for a 9'9" opening so the 2x frame brings it down to 9' even. The 1½" on each side leaves room for the door rails.

I have the Atlas 9000 lb. 4 post and am quite happy with it. The Atlas appears to be identical to the Direct Lift except for the certification. My insurance company didn't care as long as it was for personal use. The lift seems very sturdy and handles my K2500HD extended cab with ease.

My garage is 28'x28' with 10' walls plus 1 course of 8" block, 2x plates for a total height of a bout 11'. Regular trusses were used for 1/2 the building and scissor trusses were used for the half where the lift would be. There is a commercial ceiling fan at the peak of the scissor trusses...

The winner!!:rocker: My days of crawling around positioning jacks, lift arms or even picking stuff off the floor are all over. There is no doubt the two poster is easier for tire changing and brake jobs but my rolling jacks will get the job done with a little more effort.

I just got a Makita MAC2400 2.5 hp, 4.2 cfm @ 90 psi compressor. Unsurprisingly, it has a hard time running an impact wrench. It has a 4 gallon twin tank. What are the drawbacks of using a 12 gallon tank designed for air horns (working pressure 150 psi) to be plumbed into the 4 gallon tanks...

This is an Atlas Garage PRO 9000 LB. holding up my 2002 K2500HD extended cab. There is room for a crew cab but I'm not so sure about a crew w/8' bed. That might be a little too long.
