A few months ago I bought an Advantage 4-post lift and I love it. It came with a rolling jack tray, which is great. I can’t afford a bridge jack at the moment, so I’m trying to figure out what the best method is to lift the car with the rolling jack tray. I am leery of the narrow base of a...
Success! After careful cleaning I found the date stamps. 122. January 1922? The other larger stamps were 141 (I goofed when I said they were 1441) Thank you everyone for your input and help!
Agreed that 1441 is an assembly number. I have not found any smaller date stamps on either side of the jaws. I’m gonna keep looking, but the one underneath the dynamic jaw is the only potential date stamp I found. Does anybody have a date stamp under their dynamic jaw?
Here’s my 203 1/2 with 3 patent dates. I’ve been slowly cleaning it and found 1441 (large and clear) on both jaws, but I haven’t found any smaller date stamps. However, underneath the dynamic jaw I found this potential date stamp. The best I can figure is that it says 12 14. But obviously the...
Calling all older Reed vise owners! Please chime in and let us know if you have any idea about what the original color of your vise was. Was it black? Was it red? Was it black with red lettering? Mine has these little bits of red around the patent dates, and in the following link the owner has...
Following this thread. Please keep us posted on your search for the original color configuration. I just found traces of red on my 203 1/2 Reed vise. But of course it’s hard to tell whether the whole thing was red or just the letters.
By golly, I just looked closer at the patent dates and there are tiny traces of red paint. This thing is no doubt original because my grandfather owned it from new. So the consensus seems to be that they were painted black with possible red parts/red lettering.
I have a 203 1/2 Reed vise which I believe is from 1942 (it’s so dirty that it’s difficult to read the stamp). I’m going to start cleaning it, but I don’t want to strip off any potential paint that’s on it. My question is: were these vises painted black or some other color from the factory? Or...
I have a four post lift and I’d like to use one of these to get the car up and then put jacks on the rolling jack stand. But I’m leery about how relatively inexpensive these are.
I just bought an Advantage DX-9000-HD 4-post lift and I love it so far. I see they sell a universal winch mounting plate. Has anybody actually installed an electric winch on their 4-post lift? If so, did you have to bolt the lift into the floor? I’d love to hear anybody’s experience with...
