Taking the plunge and buying a flux core welder, would appreciate some advice.

Funny enough, I was just considering that. You make a good point regarding buying the gas etc later.

Thank you for replying. Apologies, I was being generic, from my rookie standpoint: MIG = Using a gun only TIG = Using a gun and having a separate welding rod Stick = Using a welding rod only. A generalisation but that is what I meant. Thank you, appreciate the info. Thank you. If I wasn't...

Thank you, I make small ship models so consider my fine motor controls to be exemplary :D

Aren't 'Better' welders 200V though? As I said, I don't have access to that.

Hi all, I have some minor welding needing doing on my project car and am getting into minibike projects. I'm getting fed up with relying on friends to do some welding for reasons of logistics, but also the fact they don;t always do things the way I'd like. With that in mind, I've decided to...

LED strip lights that run off 38V, any idea for power source?

Well, I think you missed the point of my post. I have new lights for the garage and wanted to repurpose these, but it sounds like there isn;t a practical way to power them so I'll through them in the trash.

LED strip lights that run off 38V, any idea for power source?

The 4 vaporproof LED strip lights in my garage were replaced FOC by the retailer when one started blinking and they decided to replace all 4 now, rather than wait for the others to go. The LED strip itself is fine, so I took them out of each light before throwing the rest away as they could be...

I want a decent, but not bank breaking tap and die set. Help!

It was a very flimsy die cast 'chuck' and when screwing the locating screw in, it cracked the housing. Me too

I want a decent, but not bank breaking tap and die set. Help!

Thanks all for taking time to reply, certainly food for thought and given me some options. As some posters hav said, in an ideal world I'd get a chaser set and a tap and die set but while a chaser is better for cleaning up threads, it wont cut new threads. While I don't envisage cutting many...

I actually didn't know such a thing existed. Thank you for the heads up.

I love that set! Especially the ratcheting die handle. Interesting, what size were you missing? One of the reviews lists what he received:

I want a decent, but not bank breaking tap and die set. Help!

Hi All, I did a search and didn't find any similar threads so here goes. I would like a tap and die set that has a small range of both metric and SAE. I needed to recut some rusty bolt threads yesterday and a friend loaned me an old but nice 40 peice set that had both sizes in it and it seemed...

Shut off the breaker for change a light, but voltage tester is flashing

Thanks for the heads up, but I know that isn't the issue as a friend and I wired and installed these lights ourselves and they are on that breaker. So it appears like others have said it;s just a sensitive voltage tester, as the multimeter confirmed.

All of them go out yes. Good to know. Yep, hence why I verified with the meter, and it's reading less than a volt which I assume (correctly it sounds) is just ghost voltage.
