Do you have African Lovegrass up there yet? It's become the end boss of weed problems further south. Creates giant areas of monoculture that nothing will eat. Or if they eat it there is no nutrition in it in any case...

Standing dead trees don't know that they are dead. Capillary action will keep pulling moisture out of the ground. Even a sawn log sitting on the ground, end grain down, will take much longer to season. (y)

Usually partly caused by travel speed and partly caused by the shavings not ejecting very well in the corners as there is material in the way for 90° of the cutter perimeter. (y)

Build in twice as much crown as what you think you need, especially at the top of the hill!

I spent some time back in the day restoring old terracotta tiled roofing (slippery), and, by far, the best non-slip solution was to stretch a big pair of wool socks over the top of your boots. Not sure if it will have the same effect on your shingle material, but worth a try...

I'd guess way older than that. 40 years only gets you back to 1985 now! I started working in joinery shops in 1990 and no-one had anything like that for their tools even back then. Not even the older guys. Rota was acquired by Stanley in 1990, but other than that it's hard to find good info...

Your fence guy knows what he is doing. Really neat job. I'm curious as to the reason for the separate top wire? In my neck of the woods that would be a really effective kangaroo trap. We always run the stamped gal spreader bars to the top wire to stop them twisting it over and getting...

[thread hijack] Mr onetwo: Do you happen to have a larger version of your avatar pic? As a '48 Pilothouse dodge owner (and one who appreciates other fine things) I find it intriguing. Apologies if that's your lady in the composition and not just a web pic. [/thread hijack]

Is that a "Best Sheds" kit? All the components look the same as one of their big kits I used here a while back... The eave overhangs are a really nice touch, wish I had of thought of that :ROFLMAO:

The little peak/valley folds to direct run-off around the chimneys were very well done. I don't think I've ever seen that method before?

I am also left-handed, but taught myself really quickly to use a chainsaw right-handed for the reason that is kind of obvious in this photo (if you know where to look). :D

Quick table in an excel sheet seems to be the best. Put in the usage values from your last bill, then fill in peak, off-peak, shoulder and feed-in from each of the providers and you'll know exactly how it's going to work out without having to sit on hold and then listen to their lies... :D

Love American Cherry. It was really popular here in commercial joinery maybe 20 years ago, but haven't seen it spec'd for anything for ages. My '38 DeSoto had all the substrates that were buried within the upholstery (armrests etc) machined out of Cherry, so at some point it must have been a...
