Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT The "MacGyver" Project - My "Storage barn" to "Shop" conversion

I enjoy seeing all of the creative projects on GJ. Working on the transformation, progress is slow, but still progress ! Working on the standing seam metal for the lower half of the interior walls. Drywall installed for the area that gets the mini-split, just in-time before it gets hotter. Had...

VCT or Racedeck for 20x40 concrete floor with flaws

Thank you for the reply. I had expected to use some leveling compound and also grind some of the higher areas. (Even going with Racedeck, I will have to work on the bad areas, but I expect that the Racedeck would handle that much better.) After doing more research over the weekend, I have...

VCT or Racedeck for 20x40 concrete floor with flaws

Dilemma... After a bunch of searches on GJ and reading through a lot of great post, I still have questions ... I'm turning a storage barn into my workshop and trying to make the most of what I have. The concrete floor is not nice enough for epoxy, for a number of reasons. I purchased enough...

Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT The "MacGyver" Project - My "Storage barn" to "Shop" conversion

Thanks, it's taken a lot of time trying to maximize the small space. The loft area is great and YES, I did build triangle door on the storage side to keep long materials. The doors will be insulated with foam and have weather stripping to seal them up. The large (dirty) double doors are 8' tall...

Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT The "MacGyver" Project - My "Storage barn" to "Shop" conversion

Greetings from North Georgia. My wife and I purchased a home from a woman 5 years after her husband had passed. He ran a roofing business from the property and had built a 20x40 pole barn on the back side of the property for storing roofing materials. There is a 10x40 hay loft over the 20x40...

    The Seven-and-a-half-Year Lathe

 Well Done !!! Just the weight and size of the unit must have been a challenge on it's own, not to mention all of the surprises that you must have found along the way.

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

Thanks, it has led a very sheltered life... I bought the mid and bottom boxes later and they were the newer versions, but it still works fine. My old Snap-on dealer in Florida got me some nice used side boxes to go along with it.

Great score on that. It should look fantastic once you go through it. Sent from my SM-G965U using The Garage Journal mobile app

    Antique die set

Very nice. I have seen some old die-sets over the years, but not that brand or anything with a design that interesting.

Atlas metal lathe early 50's, what paint to use?

Did you ever find a good paint option for the Atlas? I also have an old Atlas and wanted to paint the sheet metal catch pan that it sits on. Thanks

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

This box was not "Vintage" when I bought it but that was over 35 years ago at this time. For about 12 or 13 years, I was a good friend with the regional Snap-On guy... Now I am working on my Barn to make it into a proper shop so everything can be in one place. I work in the racing industry so...

    New guy from Northeast GA

Hello everyone, great forum with LOTS of good information. I am converting a 2-story 20x40 barn to my shop with a Man-cave upstairs. Mostly for playing and working on motorcycles (Street, dual-sport and off-road) and other "projects". Just some concrete, framing, electrical, lighting and...
