    Lufkin Shockforce

As a flooring contractor, aren't many of the most touted features sort of pointless for the type of work you do? I definitely use a laser on some jobs. Huge time saver and vastly more accurate than trying to measure with a tape in those cases.

    Lufkin Shockforce

I've been using a Milwaukee ever since my Lufkin took a spill off a 30' boom lift. I'll be picking up one of these to replace it. A bit pricey, but if the drop testing is legit, it will probably pay for itself pretty quick. Of course work is picking up the tab, so I hope they appreciate this...

    How Much Air Compressor?

I bought the 26 gallon Quiet Tech Kobalt and love it. Quiet (obviously) and enough to run anything I need it for. No body stuff and I use mostly cordless tools like impacts, drills, angle grinders, etc. If i needed more, it would be an IR 60 gallon 2-stage 240V 5hp because I know its quiet...

Shop wiring, inside walls and ceiling or surface mount in conduit?

I did my whole basement and a friend's garage in EMT with no bends other than box offsets. Just a straight run along the ceiling with a drop to receptacle height. Plus its already straight, so there is no worrying about keeping your liquidtight straight. A 6" torpedo level and you're good...

Shop wiring, inside walls and ceiling or surface mount in conduit?

Sorry, Flexible Metal Conduit. You may be referring to what we call Liquidtight or LFMC... Liquidtight Flexible Metal Conduit. That's a little better, but I'm not a fan of using it below the ceiling unless a flexible connection is required. FMC is just too easy to damage. LFMC fares a bit...

Shop wiring, inside walls and ceiling or surface mount in conduit?

I would never use FMC on a surface of a garage. Light on the ceiling, maybe.

Would you buy a house with a converted garage?

Having just been involved in four home sales in the last five years, 3 had unpermitted work done that was not an issue with the bank. They did their own appraisal, the square footage matched the assessed value and the house appraised out. The only issues were having the violations corrected...

"Big Box" store Lumber vs. Lumber Yard

The worst lumber I've ever received was from a local yard. I would go take a look and see how their stock is stored and how it looks before I decided.

    Wire strippers for smaller gauages

I just use Klein 1003's. Great for panel work or anywhere else space is tight, plus they fit in a shirt pocket without falling out. Probably my most used tool. Klein Kurve 1019 are good too if you want a crimper and gripping jaws...

What do you pay for additional storage? Is it worth it?

The place where people talk about buying an 8th set of sockets is lecturing people about having too much stuff?:headscrat :lol_hitti I'd kill for that storage deal. I ended up having to sell a few bikes when I moved and to buy something to replace them is going to cost me a heck of a lot more...

    New Miller Multimatic 220

This is exactly why I'm interested in it. I don't need 2 machines, I don't want two machines. My space is valuable to me, I'm not sweating a couple hundred bucks in order to have a more compact set up. I'm not putting any strain on my current machine, this one would be no different. It's...

    Making $35,000 Bonsai Scissors

Lots of firsts to go with every last. Generally speaking, there is a very good reason the last of something goes away. They are no longer needed. While I don't know about this specific example, but in most cases, we have found a much more efficient way to fulfill those needs. You can probably...
