Very old drill press ,all mechanical

Every antique store or co-op around here (rural) has those in abundance, usually asking $100 plus. Probably aiming at the yoga pants and Wayfarers crowd as a decorative accessory to their McMansion. As a serious tool, it ain't worth sheet.

    Home workshop collective group

I don't see this working out well for the OP. There's always going to be an imbalance of doers and takers. Who's going to pay for all the tooling for your lathe, press and cold saw? I can see someone showing up with a bunch of mystery metal asking for a few holes punched out which turns out to...

Craftsman 100 Drill Press Column Rusted In Place

It's too tall for most hydraulic presses. You could try heating the casting, in one spot until dull red, but you NEED oxy acetylene for that. Or, best, just clean it up and leave it on.

Delta drill presses - what’s a reasonable offer?

A toy-*** Harbor Fright drill press probably costs more. I like the first, has 3 lever feed and the original motor switch rod.

    South Bend Heavy 10L - How’d I do?

It looks good to learn on. Coolness factor is high, especially with the stand. Has babbit bearings.

    Delta Variable Speed Drill Press

I’ve never seen the innards of the 17" vari speed. But I have several vari speed 15" Delta-Rockwell. On the pulley there is a drag screw, looks like a set screw. Snug it down just enough to remove play in the cone as it rides up and down. There is also a plastic guide rod, make sure it's in...

    Delta Variable Speed Drill Press

That's pretty quiet. I'd say if you're looking for purring like a sewing machine, you'll be disappointed.

    Kalamazoo 7AD Horizontal Bandsaw

Motor is crooked. Also looks like you're missing the chip pan. And the stock stop.

Question for the gurus - Atlas Drill Press Head Lifting Mechanism

My guess it's probably a cushion (bumper) to prevent cast iron slamming into cast iron during operation.

    Chuck removal

Generally no, not the way it was manufactured. But someone may have already drilled a hole. Open the jaws as far as possible, and check it with a flashlight. Usually best is a 5/16" hole and the same pin punch. If that chuck will accommodate. With Jacobs brand chucks the bodies are soft and...

    How tall is your workbench

Detail work; I want it pretty high so I don't have to hunch over to see. Hand planes, routers, hand drills; I want it fairly low so I can put my back into it. Assembly bench; want it really low so the work isn't looming over my head.

Ok to pour wall in multiple shifts?

San Simeon (Hearst mansion) was made with multiple concrete pours mixed by hand over several months. The raw materials were brought up from the valley on the backs of burrows.

1940s Delta Unisaw locking wedges for wheel

LTA-457 wedge lock pin. Keys nestle inside of that.

Is this the right Clausing DP?

That's a beautiful drill press. But I think the price is a bit steep. Personally, I'd prefer a stepped pulley over the reeves drive; less maintenance, and less noise.

New to machining, is lathe tooling interchangeable

A small lathe will be nothing but an exercise in frustration. They are too light and underpowered. The castings can't absorb vibration, the chuck and spindle are so small the work piece will deflect, and the small hp leads to chatter. 1/4" diameter delrin, probably fine. 2" diameter steel, no...
