I did, and then I manhandled them quite a bit as I worked them into the cylinders. I definitely could have rotated one as I did. Another reason for me to remove and check.

I don't have the metal tube. If I fab one from copper, will I need to replace the push to connect fitting on the pressure switch, or can I just insert one end of the copper line in it and use a compression fitting on the other end?
