Breather tube bleeds air when compressor off

I think so. I put a new one on when I first rebuilt it a few weeks ago.

Breather tube bleeds air when compressor off

I took off the head and inspected the rings - all looked ok. Ran again with no improvement. Took head back apart and one of the reed valves was stuck in its groove. Pried it out and the fill time improved to 9:30. That's still a couple minutes off for a 60 gallon tank, so I'm going to hunt...

I did, and then I manhandled them quite a bit as I worked them into the cylinders. I definitely could have rotated one as I did. Another reason for me to remove and check.

I took pictures before, but the only point of reference was dirt that I later scrubbed off. The gaskets are also multi directional.

Breather tube bleeds air when compressor off

Yeah I think I will leave the head together since everything up there is in the right place. Something else I could have done since I took the entire compressor apart the first time - reversed the head when I put it back on, meaning the pistons went into different cylinders. Would that make a...

Breather tube bleeds air when compressor off

If it was mine, I would put compressed air to the pump discharge and see what happens then. even turn the crank by hand with the air pressure on . Do you mean take my other compressor, plug it in the discharge fitting on the head of the compressor, and shoot air into the head, and presumably...

Breather tube bleeds air when compressor off

Larry, i’ve probably run and filled the tank about five or six times total since I rebuilt the thing, is that enough runtime to have seated the rings if that was my issue?

Breather tube bleeds air when compressor off

Time to fill my 60 gallon tank to 125 psi is 24:11. I don’t think I’ve got the wrong size rings, I was emailing the manufacturer to identify my compressor and we figured it out based on bore size (2.5 in). The old rings have a 65MM outside diameter. If I broke one or multiple rings, when I...

Breather tube bleeds air when compressor off

I installed the rings based on the illustration on the diagram, which matched up to the word “top“ printed on each of the top two rings. So unless the top is supposed to be facing the crank case, they should have been installed the right way. I did not measure the rings, but they appeared to...

Breather tube bleeds air when compressor off

The pressure appears to be holding steady, so I don’t have any leaks in the system. My compressor takes a long time to get up to pressure, and I still get a pretty steady, strong blast of air from the breather while it is running. I’ve researched this some, and, it seems the most common reason...

Breather tube bleeds air when compressor off

I now have what I believe to be a safe, working air compressor. New check valve, unloader line added: Pressure release added below pressure switch: Now it will pressurize to 125 psi without leaks in the head. I have two other issues, but one seems fixable and the other minor. The oil is...

Breather tube bleeds air when compressor off

It was a fight, but I got the check valve out. It may not be my only problem, but it looks like it was a problem: Waiting on some parts and should have it correctly put together by this weekend. Appreciate all the advice.

Breather tube bleeds air when compressor off

I don't have the metal tube. If I fab one from copper, will I need to replace the push to connect fitting on the pressure switch, or can I just insert one end of the copper line in it and use a compression fitting on the other end?

Breather tube bleeds air when compressor off

Ok, here are some photos of my setup: From what everyone has said, I have an unloader valve, but no unloader tube or pipe to allow air in the head to bleed out. I'm also missing any sort of pressure relief valve, but I can see a port for one on the underside of the pressure switch in the...

Breather tube bleeds air when compressor off

Will the safety release valve be incorporated into the pressure switch? I will of course check over everything, but I don’t remember seeing a pressure release valve elsewhere on the tank. Once I have good pictures, please point out where I would need to add one. My goal was to get everything...
