I've always used the rule of thumb of: 1/2 the size of the finished hole ... in your case, finish hole size is 3/16 ... pilot hole size would be 3/32

I have 2 of that very make and model ... been giving it their all for over 20 years. Work horses.

try YouTube. Tons of channels on this very subject and it won't cost you a dime. I really like Jody's "style" of teaching on Welding Tips & Tricks ... his videos were invaluable while i was teaching myself to TiG weld.

Heed this advice. Every one I've ever purchased was full of GREASE. Disassemble and thoroughly wash with lacquer thinner.

Another vote for a Super Scraper. Once you use one you will wonder how you ever did without it.
