    Large Adjustable Wrenches

I have made a pint to avoid adjustable wrenches when-open end or box-end wrenches will work. With that said, my complaint about cheep, large adjustables is that the sides don't stay parallel causing them to slip off. Craftsmen, Channel Lock, and Cresent have served me well. Best, Willyk57

Help me find a pocket tape measure

It sounds like you would be well served by an old Zippo tape as Flippin recommended, I have been carrying one every day for the last 12 year. The problem is, Zippo doesn't make them any more. If you look at on-line auctions, you can some times find nice ones for under $10, they will usually...

Anyone going to Hershey, PA car show next week?

It is a really cool place to walk around, i have gone a few times but never seem to have enough time to finish the swap meet area. I usually end up going out of town the weekend of the meet. Honk as you go by, I live about 5 miles from the Giant Center, Just off the Interstate. Enjoy the...

new craftsman at the flea market - a lot

Re: new craftsman at the flea market - alott I have no solid evidence to prove it but I always figured that most of the new craftsman tools at flee markets were warranty items. I have often had mixed feelings about buying from these sellers. By buying from these sellers, are we encouraging...

    Great sears customer service!

It is about time to drag this one back up to the top for a little while. I figure that there are enough people beating up on Sears and Craftsman that those of us who do get good service need to keep the banter even. I walked in to my local Sears to warranty a RP ratcheting wrench that was...

Where do you Draw the line?

For me the debate comes up most often between buying and renting larger power tools and specialty tools. If I can afford to buy the tool in the first place, it then becomes a question of whether I will use the tool enough times in the future to bring the rental cost close to the perches price...

Are Craftsman File and Tool Handles Still Available?

Thanks for all of the responses. I will probably be placing an order in to General Tool for at least one more handle... and a few other items. Once again GJ has cost an unsuspecting addict more of there hard earned money. I have no complaints though. I will keep everyone posted if I come...

Are Craftsman File and Tool Handles Still Available?

Are Craftsman File and Tool Handles Still Available? I have been helping to clean out my grandfather's house and workshop for the last few months. It has been a treasure hunt with a lot of hunting and a little treasure. My grandfather is from the generation and social class that saved...

GJ Weekend Prize - Free Tools - New Allen Hex Key Website

I like the Allen site, mostly I like that you can buy from the site. I would be interested in a T-thru handle set in English, but I didn't see them yet. I like US Made when practical, but I don't refuse Free. Best, Willyk57

What do I need a Dremel© tool for?

I will agree that mine only gets used 4 or 5 times a year, but when I need it, I am glad I have. Most of what mine gets used for is cutting or grinding mettle in tight spaces. I recently used mine with the mini router head to cut tread in to a smooth soled pair of boots. Best, Willyk57

    Great sears customer service!

I just had almost the exact same experience at Sears. I had two precision, straight blade screwdrivers that were well past shot. When I took them in to warranty, I discovered that Sears had changed the sizing measurement and the part numbers. I found the two from the current stock that were...

Does anyone else not like racheting wrenches?

That is how I have have been using them as well. Given this mindset on how they can or should be used, I feel they have very limited applications. There have been a few times that they worked very well, but 95 percent of the time I reach for a standard wrench or a ratchet and socket. I...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

That is pretty cool,I can't believe that I missed yours when i was reading through the Thread. I have never seen another one set up like it. Thanks for the note about the date, I would have not guessed that it was that old. Here is a question for all of you parts scroungers. I am missing...
