    Zoro.com has good customer service, and good prices, especially with their 20% off coupon codes that they send out. I would avoid Amazon.de, unless you want to pay a lot for shipping, then have a, "new", item arrive that is not only clearly used, but is dirty and damaged.

    I can understand that. I have a Prentiss Bulldog vise where I removed the collar setscrew, but found that the collar had additionally been staked to the leade screw using deep cuts with a cold chisel. After seeing that, I put the setscrew back and left the collar alone.

    Aren't you going to want it out at some point? It is a lot easier to remove the main screw and dynamic jaw separately when disassembling. I think one of Parker's selling points was that the screw could be removed for oiling without pulling the whole slide.

    Parker 207 vise restoration.

    A horseshoe-like collar, with "PARKER" written on it, was originally there, and was attached with two screws. That collar sat in front of the ring on the meatball, and pulled the dynamic jaw when opening the vise. Parker vises smaller than 6" only used one screw. In the picture you can see...
