For inexpensive serious cleaning, add my vote for diesel or kerosene. I've heard the Dawn dish soap thing for a long time, but never found it to do much of anything, except clean the diesel/kerosene off (maybe). And even then, it's pretty weak. Am I expecting too much?

Have Craftsman 100/150 lost luster in the market? There are 2 on craigslist near me, about $100 each, that are not moving. Nothing special, just vanilla floor standing models. But they seem reasonably clean, with clean tables. Seems like years ago, they would have gone quickly at that price...

Meh. Don't over think it. This is the kit I've had in the back of my suv for 25 years. Small pack that easily tucks out of the way. I did upgrade from $1.99 straight handles to $3.99 T-handles (totally worth it), and $0.49 for the blue bag. I've been through 3 packs of plugs. Only ever had 1...

I have an old 9300 with a broken spindle nut. Ideally, looking for an original replacement. However, a spindle nut from a newer 300 also works. Pictured is the nut from a 300.

I'll bite and own up to my ignorance... How do you disengage the 2 slide rails on the old KR1000 slides? In the pic below, the lower is fully out to the stops, while upper one is backed in about 1-1/2" There is no finger-lever or finger-pull to manipulate. It looks like there is a plastic...

I went through a similar search when trying find jaws for an old 6" TaskMaster vise. I posted about it here: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/threads/taskmaster-bench-vise.138657/post-10860326 I ended up getting some cheap pair from Zoro, with workable dimensions, and holes that did not...

One caveat I've hit... sometimes a mfg will say the warranty applies to the original item, not the replacement. So, you get the thing replaced, but the warranty is then gone. You get 1 shot.

I'm just a home diy'er, so don't go through batteries like a pro, however... 16 years ago, I bought a Ridgid 3/8" drill specifically because the Lifetime Service Agreement applied to the batteries. I didn't know about registration then (not sure it was even required). I've taken failing...

Just adding my behavior to the statistics: I'm a home futzer with a vertical 80g. It has a copper drain pipe extension that probably holds 1-oz of water. On average I use my air once a week, but it fluctuates wildly. It's always pressurized. I'll purge the drain when I think the copper is 1/2...

Regarding the value proposition of home vs shop, I agree. I'd pay the shop to do it. But sometimes it's not even an option. I have a spare that I want to change rims. The tire has been sheltered and never touched pavement. The rubber is still soft and pliable. But... Its manufacture date is...
