That post frame stem wall or what ever you would call it caught my attention also. It looks like a great way to speed up the framing and interior finish. There is probably is some kind of anchor from framed wall to slab. Looks like you could pour slab before framing to make it easier (framing &...

    My wood shop!

Why do woodpecker shops always look like someone just backed the truck up to the door and dumped twice as much stuff into them than what would fit! Your shop is well organized, and you don't have to ever paint the walls. Thanks for sharing.

FCAW / Mig welding - Are most self taught?

I learned o&a welding from vo-ag teacher named John Minor in early 70's. Gas weld no filler, break it apart, do it again. When you had it right, you went to filler. all the way to heli-arc. After you know what puddle is supposed to look like, you can weld most any thing.

    Big wood stove disapointment

What about a wood burning furnace? That's what I have in my shop, and it works great. I burn shop scrap and pallets,it's easy to clean up after, has a sealed firebox, and a blower that moves air. Northern sells them.

Why hanging heaters vs home-type furnace?

I have a 140,000 btu up flow that sets at the end of my work bench ( 2'x2'). It's been there since 1991, cost $12.50 (got two for 25 bucks), it's easy to service, heats 38x68 Morton building, and costs less than $100.00 a month in the dead of winter. I work in shop every day,and temp is at 60 all...

    Raise The roof (ceiling technically)

the reason for using trusses is to give you a roof with support at outside edges of building envelope ( walls), the reason for having attic space is to pile **** your offspring will have to haul off when you go T.U.
