Got the heater all done and I'm very happy with it. Very comfortable heat, even right at the work bench.
Brought me to my next project though. The front near the overhead garage door is a little cooler than the back, by probably 5 degrees. There is plywood above the door where they installed...
Got all the roofing done. Replaced all the plywood on the house too because it was pretty bad due to poor ventilation. Ran CSST gas pipes and got the heater going too. I'm loving it already. Very happy.
Doing the roof on the house & garage and finally installing a heater. Picked up a 45k radiant tube...should be plenty and will be nice & clean while I do body work on the Camaro. No dust blowing around or solvents to blow up. haha Doubling the insulation on the house to R60 too...hoping to keep...
Local HVAC guy is impossible to get a hold of, so I'm trying to figure some things out on my own in the mean time...
What is the best/cleanest way to run the vent piping for the separated combustion? I have two 3" pipes coming from the heater, but would rather run just one through the roof...
Was supposed to be delivered on the 26th. Apparently it was lost in Syracuse for a week...so I just got it Friday.
I measured it out and think I may have found the best place for it. It requires 56" clearance to combustibles when mounted straight down...not gonna work with a car parked there...
Separated is what I meant...correct. Sorry about the terminology mix up. Yes the install price is more, but I think it is worth it in a workshop with dust and fumes, etc. I plan on painting my Camaro in there.
I see those Hot Dawg heaters aren't sealed combustion...unless you buy the HDS which is almost twice the price. My old man has a vent-free wall heater that puts out a ton of moisture and I don't want that. And he didnt blow up his garage while spraying his car, but I don't want to take chances...
Where did you get it? From the reviews I've seen it seems most of the troubles come from the ones on ebay. I wonder if they are factory seconds sold w/o the true warranty.
Yikes. Thanks for the heads up. That does not sound promising.
Yes attached. Line will come through the attached wall near the door. Planning on flexible line so I can install it behind the drywall and out of sight.
He didnt give me a brand recommendation and figured a couple hundred for the...
Has anyone used a Dornback heater. Made in the USA sure sounds good to me, and they are cheaper than Modine.
