    Plywood cabinets on concrete floor?

Thanks for all of the input. The concrete garage floor doesn't have any sort of damp feeling, and doesn't typically get wet, but I'd rather plan for the option to have it get wet if needed. I like the hockey puck idea - haha. I think I'll go with the treated 2x4 base and then just make simple...

    Plywood cabinets on concrete floor?

After a year of building the garage structure I'm finally getting to the fun part of building out the 'shop'. I plan to build simple cabinet cases that will sit directly on the concrete floor, but understand there may be an issue with moisture? I wasn't planning to use leveling feet, or...

Does anyone have a Jet JDP-15B benchtop drill press? I need a dimension ....

I'm designing cart for the new Jet JDP-15 Benchtop drill press and need a dimension to continue design/fabrication before I have the drill press. I need to know with the table all the way down as far as it will go what is the distance from the top of the table to the bottom of the base...

Mr Heater MHU50 - trips breaker immediately

Okay so a knowledgeable and communicative Mr Heater service tech called me back after hours - two stars for Mr Heater. It turns out the transformer is bad out of the box, and they're shipping me one via FedEx no questions asked (even though it was just pulled out of the box today) - another two...

Mr Heater MHU50 - trips breaker immediately

Thanks, yes. So when I say that I verified my wiring I tested it to make sure H&N weren't swapped (wouldn't likely cause a short), and tested it with other devices that work just fine, etc. And to put any other doubts to rest I'm an electrical engineer so I know enough to be dangerous :)...

Mr Heater MHU50 - trips breaker immediately

Got everything installed and connected in a nice professional-looking manner, and threw the breaker with anticipation of warmth and got nothing but an immediate 'pop'. I verified my wiring is correct. Noticed that the hot and neutral on the unit have continuity, which doesn't seem correct ...

    Mount compressor separate from tank

This unloader swith / check valve is giving me some fits. It's a 1/2" FPT to the tank, but then what I think is 7/16" compression to a hard line hose to the pump. That hardline hose is what I'm trying to replace, but how do I transition from 7/16" (?) male compression to anything other than a...

    Mount compressor separate from tank

Thanks. The unloader switch is what I was looking for - didn't know what that was called, but understood it's function. I don't have a setup to take a picture of yet! Hahah. Just a taken apart compressor at this point. This is what I have/...

    Mount compressor separate from tank

I took apart my compressor apart and ran into a little wrinkle with my plan. My compressor has two ports at the top - I have a 1/2" threaded inlet coming from the pump, and a 1/4" threaded outlet going to the pressure switch, gauge, output. These ports are about 8" apart at the top. The...

    Mount compressor separate from tank

Thanks nadogail. I was planning to use copper because I have a lot of it salvaged from my old garage. Other than the hassle of sweating the joints I've never had any issues with leakage or pressure.

    Mount compressor separate from tank

Resurrecting this old thread to hopefully get some good intel & feedback. I have a Kobalt 2 stage vertical 30 gallon compressor that does a fine job and I'm completely happy with except that I wish it were horizontal so that I could mount it up and out of the floor space. i researched...

    Overwhelmed with heating design

I was originally thinking ~35k btu would suffice, but the 50k unit was cheaper than any other option I could find. I was intrigued with radiant but apparently i don't have the ceiling height for it.

Spray Foam Next Week on New Wood and Metal Builiding - Many Questions

Not to hijack the thread, but I have a semi-related question. I have a detached garage that will have spray foam walls and roof deck (hot roof). I plan to put sanded plywood up as wall material rather than drywall, but don't want to install a ceiling and prefer to have the rafters open. Is it...

    Overwhelmed with heating design

Pulled the trigger on a Mr. Heater 50k btu unit and vertical vent kit from Northern tool - thanks to another thread on here I saw they have both on sale for $611 delivered. Now i just need the foot of snow to melt before I can get on the roof :) Thanks for the guidance and discussion to all.

    Overwhelmed with heating design

Thanks again to all! My design since day 1 has been for the hanging vented unit, and that's what I ultimately would like to stay with if I can figure out the venting solution. Venting out of the roof isn't a show-stopper, but is an aesthetic concern in addition to the anxiety of punching...
