Here are a few golden oldies to share. They are still in “as found” condition with a little liquid wrench applied to the moving parts today as I start to look at reconditioning. - Simplex Gray 43S with 5” jaws - Hollands 44 with 4” swivel jaws - Reed 203 ½ with 3 ½” jaws They are all in...

Anyone know the manufacturer of this vise? They say she's around 125 pounds. http://cnj.craigslist.org/for/4982223113.html All I can make out is "Anchor, 9072, and 5."

Thanks, and nice tip KMScott on the shoulder sizing. I sized to press fit initially, then polished her smooth until she spins freely without any slop. I'm sure it's a better fit with less slop than the original and should breathe another lifetime of use into this vise.

Rock Island 574 Vise Shoulder Bolt I’ve got a Rock Island 574 that has seen some significant use including a repair on the dynamic jaw. I’ve owned for some years in a disassembled state and finally had the time to clean-up, paint, and assemble. In the process, I learned I’m missing the center...

Wilton 9450 This is how so many posts around here start: I got lucky responding to a big vise post on Craigslist. The fellow pulled it out of his trunk at an Autozone and it actually turned out to be decent. $50 later I got my first larger Wilton, albeit dirty as hell and with one clearly...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Here's my second restoration job, this one a smaller Wilton, model Cadet 9135. 3 1/2" jaws, open to 4 1/2", ringing in at 18 pounds dry. When I picked it up she was missing both of the swivel tighten levers on the base, and Nightshift here was kind enough to help get her going - thanks once...
